Yes most definitely. Keep a copy of all correspondence as unfortunately most companies try to avoid paying out.
On one occasion I was rear ended whilst stationary. The other driver's company picked up I was a Type I diabetic and started querying person had the DVLA been informed, etc. This was despite the fact their driver had ploughed into the back of a traffic queue. Ridiculous behaviour really!
Dear Niki
Check with your surgery or hospital
I had a full stroke seven years ago, but I did not need to record this with DVLA nor my insurance company. Once recorded you will possibly get a shed load of hassle. So check before you declare.
The effects of a full stroke are usually more severe than many heart issues.but not necessary to report.
Maybe the GP practice manager could answer the query. And yes, keep a record of advice received.
Beware of the minefield !

Yes , you definitely do. You also need to inform the DVLA. This doesn't necessarily mean there would be an issue with you driving, but it makes a big difference to your liability if you have an accident even if it isn't your fault. If your health condition is not registered it can mean that your insurance company would not cover your costs. Not sure about heart failure, but I know that with certain conditions the DVLA can also fine you if you don't inform them of your health condition and you are involved in an accident.
If your GP tells you that should not drive for three months or more the DVLA will temporarily suspend your license , but you can apply for it again after you are cleared to drive .
Hi, I take a different view to previous responses, my understanding is that in the first instance you are not required to notify the DVLA that you have Heart Failure.
See attached link.

Obviously if you are advised by a Medical Professional not to drive that puts a different slant on the matter.
Moving onto informing Insurance, my recollection is that the only question they ask is whether you have a medical condition that is DVLA notifiable.
Be careful that you dont go down a rabbit hole for no reason.
Thank you I know what your saying, I'll ask my specialist on my next appointment
Hi when I had heart failure ( I have had a transplant) I didn't register it with the DVLA but when I got an ICD you definitely have to register or I am sure you can be fined. I was glad I did do it as when it fired I had to notify them and give up my license for six months. If you check the DVLA site there is a list of what you are required to tell them. Char
Check your policy documents carefully - mine say I don't have to notify them, only if DVLA have to be notified of the condition.
