This community is populated by people mostly all of whom have some form of coronary heart disease, me included. However with lifestyle improvements and medication most of us keep our situation under control. Some people who have CHD live long and happy lives (my aunt had three heart attacks and lived a full life into her mid 90s) and that could well include you. My advice to you is to embrace what the health professionals tell you on Tuesday, research the BHF webpages for lifestyle tips on how to reduce your heart health risk, but above all don't stress about it just ensure you enjoy your life to the full as you should, no different to anyone else.
Welcome to the Forum. What are these signs of CHD? It's quite difficult for other members to make recommendations or suggestions with very little information. Are your breathless or having pain anywhere? As has been intimated this may not be the end of the world it might mean you need to make lifestyle changes?
Thank you for getting back to me I have just found out on Friday about it .they said showing signs coronary heart disease.result from having an mri scan so started aspirin and statins just anxious
Good reply from sandandkev below. I presume you are not actually having any symptoms? Lots of us have plaque build up as has been said. I have at least a 50% blockage in my right coronary artery from an Angiogram done 6 years ago, but am still running cross country races. Try not to get anxious stress is not good, maybe focus on any lifestyle changes, exercise etc if you are able to take your mind off it?
I think we all have some mild coronary artery disease by 60,I'm 66 and have mild coronary artery disease,a bit of plaque in arteries, I then got unstable angina which is now well controlled on medication
its good that the signs have been spotted and the nhs is so good at sorting out treatments. It may also be a wake up call about lifestyle.
Hi there, I had an MRI two years ago to investigate a rather more pressing heart issue but that unconvered CHD - coronary arterties that were mild-moderately blocked. I was 38 at the time, fit and healthy. Asking around, I discovered high cholesterol in my family. My consultant started me on statins and my cholesterol level has come down, which should hopefully stabilise the disease. With treatment / lifestyle adjustments you may never be troubled by it. It's good that they've identified it now before it causes you any issues. Try not to worry, a great many of the population have CHD and many don't find out until they have a heart attack!
That's great news that you've had a warning before anything bad happens. YOu will get advice from the nurse on how to change yoru lifestyle to make things better so do take the advice seriously. ALmost everyone on here has some form of heart disease, some much worse that others but with medication and lifestyle changes you can have a long and active life. I had a heart attack in 2018.No prior warning but with a change of diet and lifestyle I'm still here , taking hardly any tablets , just a statin and an aspirin a day and doing fine. I just had my annual check up and all was good.
