breathlessness

I am feeling very breathless today but with no pain in my chest just a weird fluttering feeling.I’ve got angina and I’m waiting on a stent for a 100 per cent blocked artery. Has anybody had theses symptoms? I get breathless but it just seem I still am even when I rest.

Hello :-)

I am sure others will be able to give you better advice but have you a spray you are using when you feel like this and does it help ?

I am sure when you get that stent in that will make a difference the waiting can be the worst but hopefully they will call you soon to get it done

If in the meantime things are getting worse then speak with your Doctor

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Good morning, I have had 2 stents in April and I still get breathless when doing nothing, they tell me it is normal but I do feel some of my symptoms are caused through anxiety. I don't use my spray as I have never really been told when to use it, like you and are not sure you use it for breathlessness! I was told pain......

I think our mind is the worse thing we over think then the panic sets in, I understand how scary it is as it is a horrible feeling but if worried speak to your GP I saw my cardiologist and he said there is nothing to worry about and it is normal.

Good luck and keep well.

Hi thanks for your reply. My anxiety is quite bad at the moment . So I do think this has a lot to do with this. My mind over thinks things and I start worrying about the smallest thing. I have had my stent cancelled twice . I have a date now but am so worried it’s going to be cancelled again. Take care.

Breathlessness can be related to High humidity as the Heart has to work harder. It has been very wet the last month and here on the Coast RH is often 95%.

Couple that with warmth and it can lead to breathlessness, not helped by high pollen levels as councils neglect to cut grass. It will also not be helped by being overweight or anxiety.

Hi thanks for your reply. I do suffer from hayfever and I’m on meds for that so it could be some of that as well.

I would suggest contacting your GP or ringing the BHF helpline and speaking to one of the cardiac nurses or try 111. Better to check with the experts if you are concerned about any sort of heart or breathing symptoms.

Hi I had a heart attack in September that left a 100 percent blockage. It left me with unstable angina and was in and out of hospital from December to March. I had 3 stents fitted at the end of March. My advice ring your doctors or 111 especially if it’s happening at rest. I was also getting chest pain. Good luck with your stent but please ring for further advice x

My other half (who had a HA in February) had the breathlessness for a month or so after starting the medication. He went to the GP 2-3 times about it and they said to practice box breathing, mindfulness and relaxation. What they didn't say, which we've just found out, is that it's a very common (1 in 10) side effect of taking Ticagrelor. For him it has now settled down, I hope yours does soon too.
