i had a mild heart attack on April 13th 2020 since the heart attack i initially was feeling great a bit jittery but have since settled down and am feeling confident that my heart is good. Approximately 6 weeks post surgery i started to feel breathless itching all over my body which i constantly use a antihistamine which stops it, i talk to m doctor my surgeon and a lung specialist they say all is good but they dont get breathless so they don't listen all along i have said its the meds but dont seem to get any answers im at a loss everyday if i wash my hands with cold water the fingers turn white doctor says could be metoprolol tartate doing this yet he wants to increase it to slow my heart down as it rests around 80bpm. also im on Rosuvastatin 40mg and i have always had borderline cholesterol levels also on abisartan 75mg and metoprolol 25mg twice daily oh and 150mg aspirin daily. before my heart attack i was seemingly fit and able to walk and run without any issues.

I am on beta blockers and aspirin, statin etc like yourself and I too have cold hands and sometimes feet. The breathlessness might be just anxiety as even a mild heart attack can play havoc with your mind. The itching is clearly a result of one of your medicines but might well go away by itself. I would not overthink this and just keep an eye on the breathlessness and report back to your cardio if it is not resolving.

I had breathlessness after Angiplasty and it was due to one of the drugs I was put on. What medication are you taking? Another side effect was an irritating cough which went after change of another tablet

i was originally on atrovastatin 80mg why so strong i dont know but was continually getting leg cramps and leg ache. rosuvastatin 40mg is the equivalent to it but less side effects but better I'm going to see if i can go on the 20mg.

I was prescribed 80mg Atorvastatin originally when I left hospital after heart attack. My doctor told me that is the normal dose people are put on.after a heart attack. The pain in my legs was terrible. I may ask to be put on Rosuvastatin as legs still mot right on Simvastatin

Did you manage to get the doseage of Rosuvastatin reduced?I have been taken off Simvastatin 40mg today as the leg cramps have become unbearable at night and I now have discomfort in the calf area all the time. I'm starting Rosuvastatin 40mg tomorrow so hope that will suit me better

Hi Simon, it takes some time to get your head around theses issues and in the meantime it occupies most of your mind even when you do not realise it. Ideally the best thing to do is take the meds, do what you can to keep healthy within reason as people need to enjoy life as well, exercise is important but try and make it enjoyable. Then try and forget it and get on with your life and let old age kill you.

I was told that I have a small hole in my heart. the doctor did not even discuss this topic. Anyone had the same experience. would be most grateful to learn. thanking you.

Are you on Ticagrelor? It can cause a feeling that you can't get your breath rather like asthma. YOu are actually breathing properly it just feels really tight as if you struggle to get a breath in. It's a well known side effect. Look at the leaflet. I had to come off it and be changed to clopidogrel as it was so bad.

no i haven't been on that i was on the combination clopidogrel but came off that to only asprin as the consultant said that was for the benifit of the stent.

Yes, either Ticagrelor or clopidogrel are given usually for a year after a heart attack to help prevent stents from blocking up. MIne was stopped after 6 months. Aspirin only now.

I was initially put on Ticagrelor but changed to Clopidogrel due to side effects. I notice you said you were on that to prevent the stents from blocking up but I didn't have stents put in so wondering why I'm on that!

the critical period for a stent from what i was told was the first 12 months even though the stent are medicated there is a risk of clotting to the stent that's why i was put on that and from doing a little research this is quite standard after angioplasty.

IT's a blood thinner so I guess it helps to keep he blood flowing, less work for the heart and less risk of clotting. That is not a medical description lol just my guess.
