Why is it best to keep our faces anonymous on here? I don't get it. I think its nice to get to know fellow hearties and see them as 'real' people. We certainly dont have anything to be ashamed of having heart issues. People are so kind and caring but its strange messaging a flower or a building! Or am I missing something? Please tell me if I am and I'll remove my mug shot ASAP!!!
P.s Complete respect to those who want to remain anonymous.

My late Mum sent me snowdrops when I was expecting my two sons. She sent them early as she said snow drop bulbs wouldn't look the same!! My sons were born in the months of April and May so I could see her point.
Hope you're feeling much better now. Love and hugs. Jan xxxx
I have my pic on my profile. I put it on another HU forum that I belonged to before joining this one. I have met quite a few of the people on there when we've had get togethers. I don't think it's unsafe to do so, but I have had a few odd messages from men. Would make you laugh if I told you the name of one of them. I just report them.
Was he in the army and did you have a photo of him in uniform bent talking to a child who was probably in Afghanistan?
I once met a rich American on the plane going to see my sister in Dallas, invited me to his ranch. In my mind I thought I would end up murdered. Afraid I'm not very trusting. We were both stood at one end of the plane, it was in the days when you could ask to see the cockpit on the plane. The captain walked by and I asked if we could. Well there was a really handsome co-pilot in there, but my interest in what the dials did in the plane became boring, so I sneaked off. When I got off the plane and collected my luggage there was the handsome co pilot. I panicked hoping he wasn't waiting for me, but he was and drew alongside me as I got to him. I don't remember a word of what he said and soon spied my sister and her husband waiting for me. I just walked away to them and left him. That's it the most exciting day of my life when I think back. That was thirty years ago, now I'm an invisible old person.
Thank you BK, as kind as ever. I can't remember when the picture was taken but definitely in the last year. I try to scrub up when I'm feeling ok. I find it helps my mood to make an effort.
I can cope with weirdos! I always seem to get loads on Instagram so I guess this is no different. I just block and ignore.
No need to hide away ,i didnt know you could put your pic up ,i found it so added one ,only been here a week though ,mainly reading a lot of articles .
Well I just read your bio and thought I had it bad. Always someone worse off so tank God for my blessings and wish you the best of heath and I hope you get things sorted. God bless
There are people worse off than me. In my last post I was having a bit of an angry day. Thank you so much for your support though. God bless you too. ๐
It's everyone's choice Sljp0000. I find it difficult remembering people's group names but remember there real name easier. I use my picture on my profile but can understand people are wary of security these days with so many scams etc going on. Hope your day goes well. Brian
I think Iโm with youโฆ itโs quite anonymous anyway with our Forum Names! And it feels more natural to speak to a face๐hoping allโs well with you.
Depending on what device you are using, Iโm using a mobile, at the top right hand corner you should see your picture with โmoreโ underneath. If you click on that, select โupdate profileโ and then โchange avatarโ it should let you choose a picture from your gallery to change it to.
My profile pic is of the brooch I wore at my daughterโs wedding. All the important people were asked to pick their favourite superhero and had their brooch/buttonhole made out of Lego. I said I didnโt want to be a superhero because I was the Mummy. I rather liked the result!
mine is of my little rescue dog who looks much cuter than I do.
Jokes aside, it is indeed a personal choice and as Iโm on different social media platforms I rather be anonymous on here. Not showing my picture does not stop me from giving or asking for advice.
Also, and this is personal, Iโd hate if someone that I barely know and definitely donโt want to share my life drama with, would approach me on the street and thinking to know me. I know it is very unlikely but it can happen and as long as I can pretend to be healthy, the better it is ๐
I never put my photo on any social media site . I also never post photos of any of my family without their permission. Nothing secret just don't like to.
I donโt have any photos of my children on social media and ask my family not to post anything with them on there either. They have their whole lives to have an online presence, I want to help protect their innocence for as long as I can ๐
I probably sound like an overprotective parent! ๐
Morning the story behind my pic, I have loved Bowie since I seen him on TOTP when I was 13 singing Starman, Ziggy stardust was purchased. Wind the clock on many years. I had been waiting nearly two years for a transplant, I was in a pretty bad way and seeing where the album cover of Ziggy was shot was on my bucket list. My bestie got us on the train from Glasgow to London a nice apartment booked and off we went to Hedron St. We had a lovely time managed the palace as well. Six months later I was placed on the urgent list and got my new โค๏ธ. I think it's time for a profile change a pic going on. Char
At the risk of being vilified or worse I am going to play 'Devils advocate' here and say shouldn't this post be on the social thread as strictly speaking it is not directly a heart matter. People have been banned or encouraged to leave the site for similar.____________I'll put my wig and gown away now!
The two places aren't separate. It's just that the social thread is a pinned post and not in the list on our feeds unless we have saved it or asked for notifications in our settings in our profiles. It's all part of the BHF part of HU, and whether people see stuff or not is determined by whether they read the pinned posts as well as their feeds.
Good post of yours and your photo is lovely, but I'm with the 'less of my private life out there, the better' view, I'm afraid. So no photos.
Of course we cannot be sure of anything on worldwide websites. The name of the person given to HealthUnlocked may be false. Even their country could be as well. As to a photograph it could be correct or that of anyone else and even AI and HR produced these days. The black side is it takes only one evil person worldwide to put together information as in the case of a gamer who worked out who a person was and where they lived and travelled from Germany to the UK to murder them. youtube.com/watch?v=TaRMPZq...
So we all need to be on our guard even though HealthUnlocked is a friendly website but remember an insane person can be easily offended.
My employer, or future employer does not have the right to know about my medical conditions or any health issues I may be dealing with outside work. This is my primary reason for pseudo-anonymity. Without it, I would not post.
I hated it when I was young in the 70's my nickname was after a certain toy and also on the back of robertsons jam jars ๐. No feather cut or Purdy for me.I had the last laugh in the 80's when everyone was paying for a perm, my youngest son is the same ๐char x
He is 42 now and keeps it cropped, so funny during lockdown when he couldn't get it cut it was a giant mid brown affro with beard to match. His older brother is bald x
I do use my own name but its probably because I lack the imagination to choose a moniker that just fits. I love many of the names on here. They are just so evocative on the person that a plain old name would be!
I would be worried about cracking everybody's phone screen. In al seriousness I work in the banking sector so we are training to be giving out personal info off websites and social media. This is not just protect against getting profiles cloned or bits of information stolen but also make sure that I can't be identified as a bank employee so I don't get propositioned by people with malicious intent.
A few years back just some bits of information would be okay but now we're have reverse image searches I think it's going to point where it's actually easier to track people down. Not wanting to alarm anybody it's just the way that we've been trained to minimize the absolute risk very rarely would I expect anyone to be trying to make any sort of advances or trying to do in sort of snooping...
I understand but Facebook/Insta has much more detail and most people have those these days.I'm from a banking background but left when it all became about sales and not the best interests of the customers. X
Hi Sljp0000 I didn't know you could put a profile photo on until I saw your post, so thank you for making me aware , I (think) my photo is now on lol, take care stay positive ๐
My previous role meant I needed to have a limited social media presence... I've not got round to changing anything, and probably won't have the opportunity soon.
My profile picture was taken from a trip to the enchanted forest last year, where the theme was Together Alive.
I was in Waitrose at the weekend & think I saw you Michael! Were you wearing a crash helmet too? ๐ I was quite scared butnow I know it was you & I feel quite silly ๐
