I have heart failure and AF. My biggest problem is needing to visit the bathroom many times during the night which makes me feel exhausted by morning. Don’t have any urinary infection.
I don’t drink fluids after 7pm so what else could help? Are sleeping tablets the answer.

Make sure you are completely emptying your bladder. My neighbour was told to sit and wait when finished and count 20 and then try to pass more urine.
Also my GP told me that our kidneys can work better when we are lying down. So perhaps have a little lie down on the sofa during the evening before going to bed.
I’m sure more experienced members will come along however, have you noticed any fluid retention anywhere? It is thought that when you lie down, it can increase how often you need to urinate. I think this is what Jean is referring to about the kidney’s working when we lie down too.
It is annoying having to constantly wake up in the night to use the bathroom.
Nocturia is usually an age thing for both sexes but If you visit the bathroom several times a night it sounds to me that you are not emptying your bladder adequately when you do go. Apart from restricting your liquid intake which you already do, you can only relax when you do go to the bathroom and certainly not force things along, since that in the end may do more harm than good. You might find a bowel movement before you retire may help as this will help relax your pelvic floor. You could also try emptying you bladder then returning after a minute or two , this is known as double voiding. However there might be other reasons why you are experiencing problems, such as a prolapsed bladder, so I recommend you talk to your GP, who may be able to arrange some simple tests like an ultrasonic bladder scan to determine your retention volume, quite apart from a physical examination.
I spent a day in an NHS urology clinic having several tests, at the end of the day the specialist concluded that I had a sensitive bladder and in addition to my Tamsulosin he prescribed Tolterodine.....I was also told to reduce my coffee intake.
What a difference, I now occasionally go through the night without having to get up and rarely have to get up more than once a night.
hello I’m exactly the same sometime it’s so bad I go every 20 minutes and quite a flow!!! I don’t drink after 6 ish and decaffeinate tea and water never drink alcohol . The thing is I never feel the need to go daytime and can practically go from breakfast to tea time!!! Had bladder scans and pelvic scans I keep telling myself it’s severe stress and anxiety I’m a similar age to you 80 in October
