just feeling yucky, have a pain in the centre of my back between the shoulder blades and feel a bit breathless, slight ache in chest and feel bloated in the stomach, don’t really want to to a&e but feel like it might be an option, I’m just panicking as I have really bad anxiety which sometimes mimics these symptoms, just don’t know what to do. I feel scared and I know I should listen to my body but is my mind playing tricks on me. I just don’t know. Writing this is helping me take my mind off it but I don’t want to waste peoples time. A&E are so over stretched. What to do????
should I get checked out: just feeling... - British Heart Fou...
should I get checked out
I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling well.
The thing with anxiety is that it can mimic angina and heart attack symptoms and sometimes it becomes difficult to distinguish between them, especially when we’re left to our own devices at home.
It would be worth calling 111 and letting them know your symptoms. Almost 9/10 they will probably advise that you go down to A&E as it’s chest pain.
I hope you feel better soon
I’m going to a&e to get checked over, just don’t want to waste anybodys time. Thank you for your kind reply
hi - look you’re not wasting people’s time - go get checked out - a blood test will confirm if anything or not - if it is then you’ll be in the right place - if it’s not it’ll put your mind at rest and hopefully reduce your anxiety - Any symptoms like this my advise is go to A&E - don’t put it off - best of luck
Go to A&E now! I say this as that after chest pain breathless is the main symptomnof a HA. My father put his symptoms down to indigestion and said nothing. Shortly after he did he was dead. Go by lift, taxi or ambulance but whatever you do Do It Now!
Cimmy
I don’t suffer from anxiety as such, in November I didn’t feel great with “discomfort “ in my chest I am a nurse with 40 years experience and didn’t want to waste A & E time my colleagues went nuts on a zoom call I was on at the time what would you tell a patient?
999 call and heart attack diagnosis and subsequent stent, pain in the shoulder blades is common in females
Please get immediate medical attention if it’s anxiety or reflux so be it it will get treated
You will not be wasting anyone’s time go now
I have read down and can see you have decided to go to A&E for what it is worth I think you have made the right decision
Yes anxiety can mimic health issues but it is better to be safe than sorry and find out
I am sure as busy as they are they would rather check you over and hopefully everything will be ok x
So glad you are back.I really missed your considered, gentle comments.
Everyone has given great advice so all I will add is hope your ok and able to get checked out to give yourself peace of mind keep us updated on how u get on 😉
Hi Cimmy

Hi Jimmy. How are you this morning? Are you home?
hi all, and thank you so much for your comforting kind posts. I’m home and I’m ok, all test were ok. I feel such a fraud, because I was feeling so unwell and still am to be honest I felt like I had to go and glad I did. They were very understanding even though they were so busy. But I’m fine and thanks again for your kindness and support. I’m just going to relax in bed today and maybe speak to my own doctor tomorrow. It is so humbling the support I got on this site, I feel very lucky to have all the support. Take care and THANK YOU
Hello
Brilliant news you are back home and everything is ok
Please do not think you are a fraud as we are not Doctors but they are and these things need checking out had you not and something had happened then what ?
Good idea to rest up today and give yourself some TLC and speak with your Doctor tomorrow
I hope you manage to relax with the knowledge there is nothing wrong x
ohhh you’re back!!… good to see you!🤗
Thank You
I hope you are keeping well
Been away and observing from afar as made me observe so much so it was worth it x
My heart attack started with a pain between my shoulder blades. Pity 111 or three 999 operators did not recognise my symptoms as a heart attack, Ambulance took 5 hours to arrive, too late getting to hospital for stents as heart attack had passed through me.
You did he right thing. Glad it was ok. I have very bad spinal problems wit one of the discs causing unbearable pain right at heart level so it's almost always impossible to tell whether my back pain is heart or s pine. The pain radiates into my chest too. I Had 3 days of it last week; rang the GP who, over the phone just said "OH it will be your spine." I was furious. My reply was "That's what my regular GP said for a year until I had a heart attack". I went to the Urgent care centre. During the heart attack 5 years ago all I had was horrific indigestion for 3 days and back pain . On day 3 it went down my left arm which is when I rang 999. Luckily 2 superb paramedics were able to read the ECG because when I got to A&E I was ignored for hours because I wasn't grey, sweating or clutching my chest. Never mess about- always get it checked even if it takes hours.
Hi Cimmy, glad to hear it was nothing serious, it is always best to get checked out if you are unsure. Hope you are feeling better today.
I just wanted to add those are exactly the same symptoms I have when either my gallbladder or ibs are playing up. My 'go to' remedy is buscapan -which eases the muscles, windeze tablets to shift trapped air, a hot water bottle and a painkiller. Apple cider vinegar in pure apple juice helps too.
Sorry I missed this yesterday and I am glad you managed to sort it out but this is never the place to ask for urgent advice.
There is a 111 service to the NHS where you can ask this kind of question and it is there to avoid people just turning up at the hospital.
Please speak to the professionals if there is a next time, when it comes to the heart you can't waste time asking lay people on a web site.
