I may need my aortic valve replacement surgery soon at University Hospitals Birmingham. Could anyone kindly recommend a good heart surgeon in this hospital? I checked the hospital's Consultant directory, but the information is insufficient.
Many thanks.

Can I remind people that specific consultants and teams should not be mentioned on open forum so if you are making a recommendation please use the message facility.
I would like to remind you that opinions and reviews of consultants are very personal. When I first saw a new Diabetes Consultant I had some trepidation as there were some very negative reviews. She could not be more helpful and supportive. Some years ago I saw a Vascular Surgeon who I thought incompetent. Yet he has 5* reviews. Digging deeper these seem to relate to varicose veins. However with PAD he seems out of his depth.
The vascular surgeon my fiancé recently saw seemed exactly the same - like he didn’t have too much of an idea about PAD....but his reviews online are brilliant (the reviews are from a private hospital and all for varicose vein type procedures too!)
OP - not sure you will get to make a choice, as I think they base the consultant you get on many things - caseloads/waiting lists, any specific skills required etc.
Hi Dan, I go to the cardiology department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In my experience everyone are amazing can’t fault them at all. Sure you will have the same.
