Hey everyone So back in march I had an abnormal rythym detected by my ICD. I had an emergency meeting with a cardiologist about having an ablation. I honestly freaked out due to some horrible experiences, he put my mind at rest. I've had my pre-op assessment which was a phone call with an awesome nurse. Had my swabs etc sent out so just waiting on an official date. It's making me nervous which I know is normal. Just wondering how to ease the nerves if anyone has any ideas. And what were others recoveries like? I have 2 young children to entertain ha ha.
Thanks in advance

Good luck with your ablation, can I ask what sort of arrhythmia you had? My husband recently had an ablation, unfortunately he has really complicated health issues which compromised his recovery but I do know others have had them with no real issues. Will you be in overnight? Or is it a day job?
Hey yea I had an svt detected. Both my right chambers were pumping at the same time. I've been told I should expect to struggle for 2weeks. All being well just the day, although I'm told I'm difficult to treat so you never know. Thank you for reply and hope your husband is doing ok x
Thank you, my husband is doing much better, his EP is cautiously confident that his ablation was successful. He had a VT storm resulting in loss of consciousness several times, he's also had an svt & atrial flutter, this is all new to us & we've not really been much about it all so I'm trying to understand as much as I can. Did you know you were having the svt?
I didn't feel it. I felt dizzy and faint. My Fitbit alerted me to a heart rate of 174, this lasted an hour. The next day I was so worn out. The device clinic rang me to inform me of what was detected. Since diagnosis I've struggled with my blood pressure and heart rate. If ones high the other is low. Do you have a community heart nurse? I do and she's amazing I can ring her for anything especially if I don't understand anything x
Yes, my husband has a HF nurse who will can phone at any time, she did say she'd explain it all but unfortunately my husband was poorly again & it kind of got forgotten about. Did your ICD shock you at all or did it pace you out of it? Apparently my husband was having VT's back in October & Christmas day, he had no idea at all he'd had them until the hospital phoned to say he'd had them & then it all went a bit pear shaped with the VT storm at the end of January.
That's interesting, my husband's VT's were coming in under his ICD threshold so his ICD didn't pace him out of them. The threshold has been reduced now 🤞 good luck with your ablation, let us know how you get on X
