Hello, just wondering if anyone has had a Pascal loop fitted to a leaking valve. I'm due to have one fitted on 12th June. They had hoped they could fit a micro tab last year but after tests last September they decided the leak was too bad, They contacted me recently and I met with the consultant who perform ops on valves. Apparently the Pascal was designed around 3 years ago.
Any info you may have would be helpful. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I have no advice to offer on the pascal loop however, wanted to wish you all the best for the operation.
If it helps, I will attach the BHFs’ cardiac helpline below. They are open Monday through to Friday 9-5pm. I believe they could offer a better insight.
Thank you Tos 92, very kind of you to respond and I will follow up on your suggestion re the helpline. I am seeing my local cardiologist tomorrow, he may be able to offer some insight. This is my last chance, I've been in AF for 22 years and it's finally caught up with me but I'm hoping I get through the Pascal op, not wishing to sound morbid but I've just paid for my funeral! Upward and onwards...
It's my left mitral valve that's leaking . The leak came about because I was very late in being diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. They removed the thyroid but it was too late - despite 3 cardioversions to get it back on a permament basis. I can't have a valve transplant as I wouldn't make it through so this is the offer. The op is under general anaesthetic and they go up in the groin through a main artery. Its almost like micro surgery. Takes just over 2 hours I've been told and usually out in a couple of days but in my case they will keep me in longer because of other health issues plus I'm 75...
Hi I haven't heard of a pascal loop but just wanted to wish you all the best for your procedure 😉😊. You said you have leaky valve? Which one is leaking?? I have severe aortic regurgitation and moderate stenosis and will need valve replacement surgery eventually.
Hi Yumz191725, the Pascal loop is about 3 years old. It's my left mitral valve. I was talking to a recently retired critical care nurse, the daughter of a friend of mine and she did say that valve replacement wasn't very successful a few years back as quite a high rejection rate. I think things have moved on a bit over the years but I was never offered one. I was initially tested to have a micro tab last September but my leak is too wide to be covered by it so it's nearly 9 months on and they are offering the Pascal loop. I don't have any other heart problems (fingers crossed!).
Aw wow ok. I haven't been offered the option of a tavi or a pascal loop so when the time comes they said I will need valve replacement surgery which is major surgery x
