the less time the better.. the surgeons want info as up to date as possible.

I had mine the day before the op, along with the other two tests, shame this can’t be available to all of us. It was one minor benefit of the covid pandemic.

You should be able to phone and check where you are on the waitlist. I had my op cancelled 3 times and I then pestered the life out of them. At the hospital I was with it was just called the cardiac surgery waitlist team. Hope you don't have to wait too long xx

I think there was about a week between mine, but I already had a surgery date when the angiogram was done.

It's the not knowing I can't take hope all went well with your surgery

Absolutely on both counts, I hope all goes well for you and you don't have to wait too long.

My surgery was in June '23, apart from some ongoing medication I'm leading a normal life. The only long term impact is I can get tired easily but that is down to being on a beta-blocker. I do a gym session and parkrun (5km) every week, fitter than I have been for nearly 15 years.

That 3 weeks was from diagnosis to surgery for the AVR! Oh, they did a single bypass as well as a precaution whilst in there.

Hi Sunlover I had a CT angiogram to check for narrowing of arteries about 4 months ago as one of my pre operative checks for aortic valve surgeryAm still waiting for my operation 5 months after seeing the surgeon. Appreciate that this not quite the same as a normal angiogram. The. Wait may depend on your level of priority on the waiting list and why they concluded a angiogram is necessary . My understanding is that the surgeon will not want to operate until all necessary preoperation checks (including an angiogram where appropriate)are carried out. Take care Lexi71

Every health authority is different isn't it,it scared me to death because in September they really stressed how important it is to have the replacement valve I've done nothing but worry ever since then

Four and half months so far for me and still waiting. Even had appointment with TAVI team leader 4 weeks ago. Got another appointment this coming Monday.I have also been diagnosed with Myeloma recently too.

My breathlessness is so bad now. I'm finding e everything so hard. Gradually getting demotivated.

I can't dress or wash, basic things, without getting breathless. Even going to toilet.

No one showing any urgency.

I'm desperate

If you are severe aortic stenosis they will be aiming to fit you in ASAP. I was a week.

Sunlover2009 profile image
Sunlover2009 in reply toMaydayuk

They told me it was severe in September, came totally out of the blue, was having shortness of breath but I thought it was a age

Maydayuk profile image
Maydayuk in reply toSunlover2009

They work off specific measurements of the valve and the percentage my valve was point 7 of a cm and 30% mine was severe. Severe is 1cm and 30% it's a nhs guide to when they operate. You get this from a echocardigram. Do you know your measurements. Have you had a echo.

Hi yes I had my echo end of September valve measurements 0.5-0.7 with moderate reguitation systolic murmur 3/6 other valves seem ok and angiogram showed arteries are ok

I had severe aortic stenosis, progressed to critical on the angiogram, & had my ohs one month later, in Belfast. That was back in February 2024.

I waited about 8 to 12 months, the reason the cardiologist told me was if it went wrong there would be hell to pay! Suppose it was that I was 85 at the time. All went well and am sure you have no need to worry
