Heart valve replacement

the less time the better.. the surgeons want info as up to date as possible.
I had mine the day before the op, along with the other two tests, shame this can’t be available to all of us. It was one minor benefit of the covid pandemic.
Sooty
I just seem to be chasing hospitals at the moment, had my angiogram last week as this and a pre op was all the surgeon was waiting for.I just hope it is sorted out soon very stressful, thank you for your reply
I think there was about a week between mine, but I already had a surgery date when the angiogram was done.
I had my angiogram on a Tuesday, was kept in my local hospital before being transferred to Bristol for the AVR the following Tuesday
It was five months for me!
I had 2xPCI and then AVR three weeks later.
It's the not knowing I can't take hope all went well with your surgery
Absolutely on both counts, I hope all goes well for you and you don't have to wait too long.
My surgery was in June '23, apart from some ongoing medication I'm leading a normal life. The only long term impact is I can get tired easily but that is down to being on a beta-blocker. I do a gym session and parkrun (5km) every week, fitter than I have been for nearly 15 years.
That 3 weeks was from diagnosis to surgery for the AVR! Oh, they did a single bypass as well as a precaution whilst in there.
Hi Sunlover I had a CT angiogram to check for narrowing of arteries about 4 months ago as one of my pre operative checks for aortic valve surgeryAm still waiting for my operation 5 months after seeing the surgeon. Appreciate that this not quite the same as a normal angiogram. The. Wait may depend on your level of priority on the waiting list and why they concluded a angiogram is necessary . My understanding is that the surgeon will not want to operate until all necessary preoperation checks (including an angiogram where appropriate)are carried out. Take care Lexi71
Four and half months so far for me and still waiting. Even had appointment with TAVI team leader 4 weeks ago. Got another appointment this coming Monday.I have also been diagnosed with Myeloma recently too.
My breathlessness is so bad now. I'm finding e everything so hard. Gradually getting demotivated.
I can't dress or wash, basic things, without getting breathless. Even going to toilet.
No one showing any urgency.
I'm desperate
If you are severe aortic stenosis they will be aiming to fit you in ASAP. I was a week.
They told me it was severe in September, came totally out of the blue, was having shortness of breath but I thought it was a age
They work off specific measurements of the valve and the percentage my valve was point 7 of a cm and 30% mine was severe. Severe is 1cm and 30% it's a nhs guide to when they operate. You get this from a echocardigram. Do you know your measurements. Have you had a echo.
Hi yes I had my echo end of September valve measurements 0.5-0.7 with moderate reguitation systolic murmur 3/6 other valves seem ok and angiogram showed arteries are ok
I guess it just depends on the different health areas that you live. I came under Wolverhampton West mids. My op was in Oct 2024 I saw the surgeon on the 9th op 6 days later.
Small world I come under Dudley but been referred to New cross hospital ,I saw the surgeon on 27th Dec and have been waiting until last week for the angiogram that he requested asap
I'm from dudley, my op was newcross
My hospital is Russell's Hall. My cardiologist is Dr Huggett.
I had to have all my tests at Russells hall just got to go to New cross for pre op
My surgeon was polish haven't got a clue how to say it. He was lovely. I was in 5 days. I won't lie, I'm only just feeling myself. I have a poor immune system I'm diabetic. I managed to get Pericarditis and fluid around my heart. I'm fine now, antibiotics and a lot of rest. I was doing great for the first five weeks doing 2 mile walks everyday then I started to feel ill. So listen to your body after the op. All the best I hope you get your op soon.
I had severe aortic stenosis, progressed to critical on the angiogram, & had my ohs one month later, in Belfast. That was back in February 2024.
I waited about 8 to 12 months, the reason the cardiologist told me was if it went wrong there would be hell to pay! Suppose it was that I was 85 at the time. All went well and am sure you have no need to worry
Oh my goodness, are you feeling well now
I had angiography on the 24th January and should have an aortic valve replacement 6 weeks after, which is around the end of March. Because of the last past covid backlog, my scheduled appointment will be a 4 - 8 months waiting. In the meantime, I have to carry on living.
