Had 7day cardiac monitor fitted 4 weeks ago I've had letter back today just saying the results and findings av gone to GP so need follow up appointment I'm so scared tbh why dint they write with findings 😭😭😭😭😭

Yeah that's weird they didn't write to you about the findings maybe they feel would be better to hear it from your gp? I've had many holter monitors in the past and they cause nothing but anxiety while wearing it and waiting to know what the findings were. Did you have any symptoms while you had it on?? Mine picked up VT that was about 3 or 4 monitors before it finally picked that up. Hope everything is ok and keep us updated 😉x

Waiting to get results is never easy and I think most of us worry but I am thinking the fact they have sent them to your GP could be a positive as if they found something really wrong they would have had you back instead rather than send them to your GP

Make that appointment and try and explain to the receptionist how much anxiety this is causing you and you really need to speak with the GP as this is making you so anxious

Was it your GP who requested the monitor? Results usually go back to whoever ordered the tests etc.

It was hospital that requested cardiac monitor but it was first requested by GP....I did ask reception if it showed anything bad she said she's not medically qualified to say....Anxiety threw the roof at min..Xx

If you download the NHS app you should be able to link this to your GP practice. You will need your NHS number etc. You should be able to read the letter there either under tests or documents or letters or possibly all three! You should see records of appointments, letters from your GP to consultants etc to see what tests they are requesting.Holter data can be very hit and miss. If you are anxious and there are good reasons for monitoring your heart eg looking out for occasional atrial fibrillation which may not show up on an Holter ECG even over 7 days talk to your GP about having an ECG implant a LINQ device which monitors your heart 24/7/365 and sends the data off to an AI computer which sends an alert if there is an issue.

I had several 24hrholters a 7 day Holter fitted in a heat wave, all producing poor data. I had a LINQ device fitted in February which detected an AF event in May. It has led to a change of medication and recognition there is an issue.

I don't think you should be worrying unnecessarily, but do try and focus on your symptoms and attempting to get the best observations to inform treatment. It can help your GP to focus too and to not be too distracted by managing the anxiety. Anxiety is totally reasonable but doesn't help outcomes.

Yeah I was finally able to do this with the gp I'm with and definitely helps with piece of mind because you find they put the results on the app first and then send letters few days later.

If your GP has had a chance to review it already and the results were abnormal, it’s likely you would’ve been contacted by the receptionist or surgery in some way by now to make an urgent appointment. Based on that, it may not be as worrying as you think which is which is reassuring.

I would imagine because if there is anything it will be your GP who will deal with it and is best placed to explain it. They don't usually send results to the patient because they are usually too technical to understand. After my heart attack I was sent a copy of my discharge letter- di dn't understand a word and had to get it "translated" by my GP. I had a holter some months ago and my results went to my GP.

Unfortunately the whole system seems to have gone to pot since Covid. Most people can't get an appointment for love nor money and yet my husband has been sent an appointment by text to see the GP and we have no idea why. Crazy!!🤭🤭
