Hi everyone, I had a HA 2018 had 1stent fitted. Recently been told I have 3 arteries " furring up " ? The surgeon said the scan was " fuzzy" ? And i might need a bypass . Im scared stiff to be honest and he said because the scans not clear he wouldn't be able to tell until I was on the table ๐Ÿ˜ซ. Can anyone relate or help put my mind at rest . Im also getting bloating in my stomach ? Is this anything to do with our heart condition? And night sweats ๐Ÿ˜“ im also type 2 diabetic (but under control ) thanks in advance knowledge is power and it helps when people share ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโค

Sounds like you need an angiogram?

Hello :-)

I had 3 heart attacks and then found myself needing a triple Bypass and I know the mention of that how much it fills you full of fear I was petrified really petrified

I joined this Community and before long people shared their experiences and reassured me and I know longer felt alone and it certainly helped me with my fear

They assured me to put my faith in the experts as they knew what they were doing so I did and they were right

At this moment and I agree I am not sure why they have not done a Angiogram but there could be a valid reason for that but if and at the moment it is an if you do have to have Bypass surgery from someone that has been a life long anxiety sufferer the operation is not as bad as your imagination blows it up to be and that is saying something if I am saying it :-)

Remember if it was needed this is an operation that will give you many more years to come so it is a positive thing if that were the case

Members will be here to support you and help you through it again if you have it done which at this moment maybe the not knowing is the worst but take it a day at a time , put your trust in your Consultants and ask members on here for support when you need it :-) x

Hello :-)

Having health issues and dragging anxiety along with us is such a bad combination I know but you will do it because I am not sure how we manage it but we always do :-)

I think you have made the right choice putting yourself on the cancellation list as well as you should be so proud you have found the courage to do so as anxiety can make us want to put things of and I hope there is a cancellation soon and you get it so you can put this behind you and start to move on and you will :-)

I was fine with my first 2 jabs but my Booster knocked me for six to , strange after the first 2 never affected me but it passes which is a positive just take it easy , spoil yourself this weekend knowing you have a valid reason to do so :-)

Keep us updated how things go but know you will be ok , that is what members would tell me and they were right :-) x

Hello again :-)

I always get so frustrated when we get letters that we need answers to and they always come at the weekends when we cannot get hold of anyone !

But we are half way through Saturday so just a day and a half and you can make some calls and get some feedback from them

I also feel the wording of the letters the way they put it makes us feel afraid as it sounds frightening but when explained vocally it can be a lot mire reassuring

I am not an expert as so many members on here are with all this they write and I hope they might answer you to explain more what it all means but if it helps when I got my results I was told a triple Bypass or I would only have 2 years left , so I thought I better get this Bypasses done then :-)

I did and here I am replying to you so if it is that they suggest honestly you will be fine :-)

No don't let that letter upset you , see it is ok they know what is wrong now they will put it right and how lucky we are they have found it so they can :-)

We will be with you all the way , you can get through this , I know you can :-) x

I had three arteries narrowed discovered after angina attacks whilst walking. Eighteen months ago they put stents in all three arteries, six of them in all. Had an exercise stress test last week. Everything is good. The unknown is scary and two angioplasty was not pleasant but it might be a better option than a triple bypass. Less intrusive for certain,

Thankyou so much for your reply . I didn't understand when the surgeon said the images are fuzzy? Buy hr said until im in the table he would decide as the hospital im going to do not do bypass surgery. Im praying ๐Ÿ™ its stents the letter to my doctor is not good reading 75% blockage in 3 arteries ๐Ÿ˜ฉ..im scared stiff but there is no alternative so im trying to put it to the back of my mind until the time comes both mum n dad had heart problems plus im type 2 diabetic and have a hiatus hernia (feel bloody skip worthy ) ๐Ÿ™„ just praying for the right result thankyou again ๐Ÿ™ โค๐ŸŒน

Hey Maxwell, I notice you say youโ€™ve lost three stone. Donโ€™t worry Iโ€™ve found them! Theyโ€™re around my belly keeping warm. Anytime you want them back Iโ€™ll send them back to you ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Ouch, that was my wife hitting me telling me not to be so silly ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Wow ! you just sound like me - I had one stent put in after a heart attack , but then I was told my other 3 arteries were not good- so a triple bypass was recommended to me and I was to stay in the hospital until the operation was available- which would be in 3 weeks time.

I was well looked after- but I was a bag of nerves and the one person that I was wanting to talk to, was my father, but he passed away in April - he had a bypass done 20 years ago.

He would have told me- it will be alright and don't worry- just look at me and how it helped me to live a better life.

Before all of this happened, I thought I was a very fit man, doing heavy building work - then one day Bang ! in hospital & stayed there for 4 weeks.

I am now home- been home for 10 weeks now- recovering and looking forward to Xmas and a new life.

Don't worry about this operation - they are Expert's in their field.

After my operation, I met so many other patients who had the same operation up there in the hospital - you are not alone and it's just like putting your old car into the garage and getting 4 new tires " and then you will be back on the road.

Good luck !!!!

Oh I forgot to mention - I am diabetes 2 as well.

Ok my arm has stopped hurting now ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve had a heart attack in 2016,

Five stents 2017

Five bypasses 2019

Five days after the bypass op I was home eating a steak and drinking a cheeky little red.

Four weeks after bypass I was driving and twelve weeks later, to the day, I was riding my Triumph Bonneville 900cc motorbike.

Itโ€™s not nice going through these operations and procedures but trust in the people that do it everyday for a living.

Now I have such a full life that when people say are you free on a particular date I have to say "let me check my diary" and Iโ€™m retired ๐Ÿ˜ณ

All the best,

Sorry Pauline, I missed the second part of your messageโ€ฆThatโ€™s wonderful news about your granddaughter. You must be very proud. Congratulations to her.

Our granddaughters were down last Sunday. I had cut up an old pallet and made it into a Santa's Sleigh. Their job was to paint it. I said to them when they had paint everywhere "Santa would be proud of his little elves".

The five year old said "weโ€™re not Santas elves, weโ€™re your elves".

Thatโ€™s it grandads heart melted again โค๏ธ โ˜บ๏ธ

Thatโ€™s so lovely, at that age this is the most magical time. Enjoy every minute you get to spend with them. Making memories is what itโ€™s all about. Donโ€™t know about you but I feel so lucky to still be here after my heart issues to be able to see what our Granddaughters are growing into. And all the things they have the opportunities to become. Now am getting emotional ๐Ÿ˜Š

Spot on Pauline.I feel very lucky.

My heart goes out to those who have no one and have to travel their journey alone.

Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™m entertaining in a few care homes on the run up to Christmas. Get the old guitar out an croak a few songs.

I make them feel so much betterโ€ฆ WHEN I LEAVE ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜œ

Hi Maxwell, I was 'lucky' rushed to hospital, and three days later taken to Wolverhampton and three days after that my bypass. So I did not have the long time to think about the operation.

I was told that it would be a cabg x3 and woke up with a cabg x4 . surgeons may tell you the odd little fib.

It's honestly not as bad as it seems, yes the is initial discomfort and some pain but (at least in my case) that passed quite quickly, and if you follow the advice from your surgeon and the cardiac nurse you recover and feel better than before.

Speaking to a friend who had a cabg X2 but was on a list for a while and she said that the waiting was the bad part and the op was straight forward.

It's been six months since my operation and I am back in work (I am a builder) I am still not fully back to'normal' but at the moment I am laying a big sandstone patio (I do have a labourer to hump the stuff around) but exactly six months ago I woke up in the intensive care unit with a big scar and some really good drugs in my system (I really enjoyed the hallucinations) .

I no longer get breathless or cough and am even staring to do some running.

The is a really important thing that all doctors and surgeons have to say 'first do no harm' in my experience they really do follow that. In my case it's been 'Give serious improvement of life quality'

If you're surgeon says that he needs to have a look, then he will really need to do it.and based on experience he will do everything in his ability to heal you and improve your life.

Good luck

And a happy Christmas.

I understand that. I too have several other problems and the thought of more surgery would be just one step too far. I hope it is just stents.

HI, in May this year I went back in so they can see what was going on in my heart, like you I had a fuzzy reading and the only way to tell is an Angiogram , I was in for half an day and had 3 more stents put in so now I have 4. The first time came as a shock as it was an emergency so there was no time to worry about it, I was just really happy and great full to live and go home after days.

The second time I had notice too and it did play on my mind, that is normal and how we work, but the second time was easier, they were more relaxed and had time to have a good luck at my heart and check all of the veins. I was only in for half a day so in at 10 am and home at 5 pm. The team in Birmingham were great and I am sure the team who will look after you will be the same, they will have a good look and do what is best for you.

Good luck and we wish you well, let us know how it goes!

Thankyou so much Brad , im scared stiff of having a bypass . I had my HA in Brum but I live down South They messed up and when they tried to put stent in they couldn't get onto my vein and they did not sedate me they put a canular in but forgot the sedation it was a nightmare blood every where so they quickly administered morphine ..so as you can imagine the memories...ive discussed with the surgeon and he said we will definitely make sure your sedated. I really don't want a bypass but im diabetic and ive a hiatus hernia..im trying to stay positive but my anxiety is through the roof . I thank each and everyone that's replied to me ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝโค i will keep you posted and thanks again ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Hi Maxx, Thanks for coming back to me and sharing how this has been affecting you, I can see why you are anxious, I think we all would be. On my first time a nurse released the clamp too much and my arm started leaking blood all over the bed. It was a shock as well but they quickly took care of it and changed the bedding.

These things do happen and thankfully they are trained to look after us, but the second time the same people were fantastic again and it all went well. I am home for Christmas and I hope for many more. Also thankfully there are 1,000's of us alive now when just 10 years ago the tech was not there to do such a thing. I hope that helps, just a sample that we can make it.
