Travel insurance

Hi. I have recently left hospital after a mild heart attack and have had 2 stents fitted. I cannot find any insurance company that will cover me for travel insurance for this condition. Is this usual? Does anyone have any advice on companies to try (already tried Staysure)

Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. Just joined the forum and not sure how to post to the community

Many thanks

Hi,

I believe patients with stents can be covered by some companies... it tends to be more if you're waiting for more tests/investigation or haven't recovered fully... depending on just how recent your heart attack was might be a factor.

You could try again nearer the time of your holiday, or could try phoning some of them to see if a human can help, instead of "computer says no".

"I have recently left hospital after a mild heart attack"

How recent is "recent"? Unless you have other co-mprbidities that you didn't mention then there's not usually a problem getting travel insurance after a heart attack or stents. However, most brokers will want a decent period of time to have elapsed, in the order of at least a couple of months.

The other issue is outstanding tests or treatment, unless you've been fully discharged, with nothing else pending, then cover is generally denied.

Good luck!

Not sure if you have tried comparison sites like gocompare. Just enter your details and see the prices come up. And then ring the company you like and have a chat about your health issues to explain in detail or try an insurance broker who might help. Good luck. Brian
