Hi, I am new on this website. I am on low dose Bisoprolol 1.25 mg. ( Heart mitral valve prolapse and bicuspid valve ). Started taking 10 days ago. I wake up early morning 3 or 4 o’clock and my heart is pounding and my breathing is accelerated. Feeling anxious. Doctor advised to continue taking medication. Is anyone else suffering from same problems?
Bisoprolol 1.25: Hi, I am new on this... - British Heart Fou...
Bisoprolol 1.25
Hello
That is a low dose and I think in time you should hopefully as your Doctor has said settle on them most of us when starting on these new drugs have some side effects and not always pleasant but we do adjust to them
I would give it a few weeks at least to see how you feel then and if there is no improvement talk to them again but it is not unusual so I hope that reassures you x
I would check your pulse if it is under 60 bpm regularly I would contact your doctor again. I had similar issues and was also feeling dizzy throughout the day and my heart rate was too low so he lowered my dose.
Thank You!
My resting heart rate is on average 58-65 during the day and between 42-55 at night.
do you take the bisoprolol in the morning or at night? I take mine in the morning. It might be normal for our heart rate to be lower during the night while resting but yours seems a bit too low but if by any chance you take the tablet in the evening this could be why. My GP said it should t be below 60 or your classed as having Bradycardia. If it doesn’t increase I wouldnt leave it too long before going back to your GP showing him the readings you have taken. Hope you get it sorted x
Thank you!
I am also on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol for ectopic beats and my heartrate as we speak is 45bpm. I also have felt more anxious since going on it but am told its such a low dose it should not cause problems. My average heartrate is between 50-58 bpm and my cardiologist told me that somewhere between now and 10 years time we will be discussing a pacemaker. That I feel will not be too long from now to be honest.
I was on 1.25mg at first, but it seems that my body gets used to it in almost exactly 12 months so the dose has been increased steadily until I am now on 5mg per day. Fortunately I eventually managed to get an appointment with the heart nurse and will be seeing her early next month
Hi Dragonfly66x I am on bisoprolol also but due to having a double cabg. I was on 1.25 to start but began to experience rapid heart beats at times in the early days. My GP increased the dose to 2.5 which my cardiologist said was a mote realistic dose!? He said the rapid heart beats were just the heart settling down as it is a major operation. Recently I have experienced it again, so I am keepin an eye on it and if I think.I need advice I will phone 111. Speak to your GP or cardio team and see what they say.. The reassuring thing is that it is very common. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
My husband was told to take bisoprolol before bedtime as the tiredness and lethargy it seemed to cause was affecting daytime life!! This was after 4 and a half years of taking it in the morning. Has anyone else been advised to take this drug at night?
Best wishes and good luck. Love and hugs. Jan xxx
hi I had mitral valve repair 12 yrs ago but recently found I need to have a replacement because the leak is now severe. I am taking Bisoprolol 1.25 when I first started on this medication I felt like you, palpitations, awful feeling but after 2 weeks everything did settle down. Try to carry on and hopefully things will settle for you.
