A bit off my face but ablation success

Hi all,Tried to just update on my other thread but can't find it πŸ˜‚ drugged up brain.

Happy to share the ablation was a success. Heart Ryhtm has bee been restored to normal. I have been told although in the same breath that I may need another in future. Fingers crossed that's a long way away!

Currently enjoying a nice cuppa. Tempted so have the cookies but swallowing is a tad difficult so will stick to cuppa.

They also ruled out heart failure - so very, very, very happy about that such a relief. Consultant is hopeful swelling will not occur anymore either. He said I should try getting put for walks in about a week but judging by the pain I'm feeling think I'll stick to my garden first πŸ˜‚

So all in all aside from sore throat, feeling drowsy and pain I'd say it's been a very worthwhile trip.

Hope everyone has had a lovely day amd thankyou to everyone for the wishes ❀️

Thankyou 😊 definitely enjoyed the cuppa but unfortunately a horrendous night thanks to another health issue πŸ˜” hopefully they will figure it out today. Just keeping my pain meds topped up for now x

I'm sorry to hear that, Groott. I find that any sort of disturbed sleep really gets me down the following day. Keep taking that pain relief and hopefully you'll get sorted sooner rather than later. Carol πŸ™

Hope your having a nice day 😊

Cee-Cee1β€’ in reply toMarvel3000

Really glad you managed some sleep, Groott, it makes all the difference - if I were you, I'd just snooze when I had to while you're recovering! I'm off out this afternoon with my sister (clothes shopping - UGH! - she's to take some jeans back to Next). Shopping centres etc. in NI aren't allowed to open until 1pm and they have to close again at 6pm on Sundays due to some obscure old law - petrol stations and small grocery shops are allowed to open though. We've already decided to have a late lunch in the Centre though - it'll save me having to cook today! πŸ˜€πŸ‘

Marvel3000β€’ in reply toCee-Cee1

Sounds like a wonderful plan. Enjoy your late lunch. Hopefully your having nice weather. London is all sun shine today & I'm laid up in bed in hospital πŸ˜” but at lest I can see its a nice day out πŸ˜‚ Oh really that is annoying with the opening and closing times.

Oh yes I'm sleeping as much as I can whilst I'm in here πŸ‘

Cee-Cee1 profile image
Cee-Cee1β€’ in reply toMarvel3000

We'd a nice lunch in Synge & Byrne (brilliant name for a cafe I always think πŸ˜…). My feet feel as if she'd me round every shop in there! I hope they're letting you rest in there - I seem to remember being woken up every five minutes for blood pressure checks etc.!πŸ˜€ Hopefully you'll get home again soon. x

Yes unfortunately the test are on going but I'm nodding off in between πŸ˜‚

Ah great you had a wonderful time. Ad for our poor feet yes even small feels like we have run a marathon πŸ˜‚ take it slowly & put your feet up when you get home x

I was β€˜off my face’ after my ablation and made the mistake of WhatsApping my family. My adult children don’t let me forget that my messages didn’t make sense 🀣🀣🀣

If you check the AF forum on Healthunlocked there is a data sheet that has been compiled by people who have gone through ablation process about recovery - what to do, what not to do and what to expect. It’s well worth the read.

Marvel3000 profile image
Marvel3000β€’ in reply toIanMK

Thankyou so much I will have a read ❀️Thankfully I stayed away from WhatsApp y'day. Called hubby for like 30 secs making absolute nonsense. He said put the phone away & rest I've spoken to the ward teamπŸ˜‚

Another schoolboy error at my second ablation:

Since the whole exercise was being funded by my health insurance, I was offered a choice of meal after coming round from my anaesthetic. Not having eaten for ages, I was famished and had lasagne (IIRC). It went right through me and over the bed pan 🀒😱. Rather embarrassing followed by the embarrassment of a nurse helping me shower in the en-suite services. 🫣

Marvel3000 profile image
Marvel3000β€’ in reply toIanMK

Ah don't feel embarrassed. I now leave my dignity at the doors of hospital😜Treatment in 3 different hospitals means I have pretty much covered all my local area hospitals. Especially when I was having blackouts. Waking up stripped in different places with different people staring down at me πŸ˜‚

I could see the funny side soon after. In particular, the new junior nurse who couldn't handle the cleaning up. It was left to her supervisor to clean up and help me shower. I wonder what happened to her after.
