I am so lucky and happy with my 2nd and best life after having a heart attack.

celebrating my 57th birthday in Cape Verde πŸ‡¨πŸ‡». If there’s one thing I have learnt since having my heart attack is that life isn’t a rehearsal.

my lovely, just book somewhere and go for it. There can’t be anything scarier than thinking you could not have been here today. I’m normally a worrier and I would normally stress out. Not no more, I just go for it these days. My children and grandchildren think I’m crazy 😜 but iv just want to enjoy my life xx

Felly12 you will get there in time. Just take a day at a time. This group knows how I struggled the first 18months. If I can help in anyway please just ask. You are never alone in this group 😘 xx

It is a struggle. Some days good some days bad. Stayed in a nice hotel last week and had a massage lovely. But it's the roller coaster. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi Lynn, happy birthday πŸŽ‚ You look wonderful! I wondered what diet and exercise you do as I am struggling. It's like I feel I am in denial about having heart disease at 53 and I know I don't take it seriously enough. My diet is fairly healthy, plenty of fruit and veg and no processed food, no alcohol and I don't smoke but I do eat too much chocolate. I walk my small dogs everyday but cardio is tricky as I have m.e and fibromyalgia so I don't do enough exercise. I find it very overwhelming even after a year since my Angioplasty. Any advice would be appreciated x

MB1969, when I first had my heart attack I immediately stopped smoking. My diet was practically by the book ( bhf recipes) I lost 3 stone in a matter of months. To be honest with you I looked awful. Before my heart attack I was a size 12 and I went down to a size 8. Most women’s dream. But I looked gaunt and aged about 10 years( careful what I wish for now) just eat smaller portions and plenty of water.. I try to do my walking three or four times a week. I never take my dog with me as he stops me all the time sniffing etc. I walk steady for 10 mins fast walking for 10 minutes then back to a steady walk. That’s the only exercise I do now. I gave the gym up after my heart attack . My job is very exhausting at times as I work in a very busy restaurant and I am on my feet for 8 hours a shift 3 times a week. Xx

any kind of exercise that you are able to do comfortably is good. Just don’t be too hard on yourself xx
