I was diagnosed tachycardia with Flutter in June last year and as I have low BP and could not tolerate meds apart from Edoxaban 30mg daily plus I kept being sent to A&E due to feeling very poorly with balance issues caused by my low BP I was referred to an EP who decided as Bisosporol was making me worse when taken on regular basis he would perform a cardiac ablation in Sept 2022. All went well. I am currently going thro breast cancer treatment so have been stressed and anxious so feeling a little out of sorts in that respect.
Fast forward to last night. Early evening I suddenly had a problem with my vision. Basically my left eye had double vision, wavy lines and petroleum type colours?? I was prior to this calm and settled and was just going to watch Emmerdale (perhaps the excitement of this caused an issue😅?) I also felt nauseous. I checked my BP which was 105/64 with a pulse of just under 100. I had no etopics. I took a Bisosporol to see if this would help and after 20 or so mins everything settled with my vision and my BP went to 105/64 with pulse of 77. This morning all is well apart from some etopics.
The question is could my arrhythmia heart issues cause my vision to misbehave for a short while?
Any thoughts? I am thinking of giving my ophthalmologist a call to discuss?
I hope you are all as well as you can be but sending a hug for those that are struggling at present x

It seems like you have had a lot to deal with recently with not only your ablation, but your breast cancer treatment.
I remember an A&E doctor telling me that AFib or atrial fibrillation can cause issues with vision as I’ve previously found myself in emergency with a bad episode of ectopics. However, I see you mention tachycardia with flutter, which I assume is atrial flutter. A loss of vision does not seem to be associated with this particular arrhythmia as stated in the BHF website. Please find the link below.
I would say that in addition to calling your Opthalmologist, it might be worth giving the BHF cardiac nurses a call to rule out what maybe causing it. Please see their number below.

Failing the above, it might also be good to speak to your GP or cardiologist as they know which specific medications you are taking both for your heart and the cancer treatment.
thank you so much for your really helpful kind reply to my post. I have contacted my ophthalmologist and waiting for his call back to discuss. Update ophthalmologist feels it’ was a silent migraine as symptoms went after 20 or so minutes. I’m to contact him again if the symptoms return. As you say lots of stress health wise so I’m sure this doesn’t help.
I will contact my cardiac nurse to discuss. My GP always advises me to contact cardiology in respect of any possible heart issues or my ophthalmologist for anything eye.
Hi I would definitely call ophthalmologist for urgent on the day test - your GP should have a list of specific ones that offer this service or ask GP if that’s what they recommend (these tests are not the same as the basic eye tests - hope things improve
Thank you for your response. I contacted my ophthalmologist and was told as symptoms improved after 20 or so minutes and I was ok this morning it was prob a silent migraine. Contact them again if symptoms return! My GP just bats me on to my optician which I suppose is the sensible thing to do. So I’ll see how it goes. I immediately though possible retina issue. Many years ago I had something similar and was checked out then to be told all ok and silent migraine issue.
I obviously didn’t see that you’d said it had resolved - my concern was exactly what you’d thought yourself. I do suffer various types of migraine At least you can rest easy now x
