Does anyone have any experience with Apple Air Pods and their pacemaker. I’m going to have valve replacement surgery and my daughter thought they would be good for me. I was given Bluetooth ear phones before, to use with the TV but couldn’t use them, i kept getting static like noise through them, but worked fine for everyone else. I have rung Boston Scientific but am still waiting to hear back from them.

Jennywren, I also can't say anything about Apple Air Pods though I have used Bluetooth headphones with my mobile without problems. I know that the thought of valve replacement can be scary but try not to worry. The whole purpose is to enable you to feel and be better afterwards. Though my replacement was 35 years ago so things have moved on since then, you won't feel anything during surgery and when you wake up you will feel a bit rough from the anaesthetic but that will wear off and you should begin to feel the benefit of your heart no longer having to work so hard. As for pain from the surgery itself, don't expect anything much really, as pain relief given is very effective. Be guided by your medical team and also by how you feel as to how quickly you return to normal activities, there is no set timescale (other than minimum period before returning to driving to allow your bones to heal and strengthen enough). I know that no two people react the same, and I was quite young at the time, but after a couple of days of grogginess I then got told off for being too energetic! My stitches were taken out around 4-5 weeks post op but all I felt was a mild scratching sensation in the chest. Hope all goes well for you, and that this info will help set your mind at rest.

I guess a lot has changed since then, I’ve been into Google it seems they wire your sternum together and the wire stays there, trying not to think about that too much, maybe stitches dissolve these days. I have no problems using any bluetooth device including Apple Air Pods { wouldn't be without them } modern pacemakers are shielded a lot better than the old ones.
I cook on an induction hob etc as well, just don't lie all over it { not that I ever did } .
There is a lot you can do now { mine is a Medtronic CRT-D } as even if you upset the settings by interference they will re-set to your personal setting as that interference is removed.
