I have took the big step to register for a half marathon next year. I am giving myself 10 months to prepare for this so training is starting shortly. I took this step as I survived my heart attack and feel lucky to have another shot at life and intend to take it. I am going to run it for a children’s cancer and Lukemia charity to give back a little after what I have gone through.

step too far?
Hello
What a big step you have taken and planned it so well in giving time to train for it
I have every faith you can do this and commend you for doing it for charities that mean so much to you
Good luck and let us know how you get on x
It's great news to know you survived & have recovered enough to be brave in signing up for the run. What a huge step to take. Well done! It's good that you are giving yourself plenty of time to train. Enjoy your training but dont over do it, as we dont want to hear of any strain injuries. Keep us all updated on your training & progress & how the big event goes. It's great to hear that you are doing it to give back & we all wish you all the best with both your ongoing recovery, your training, the actual race and your fundraising. You can be our inspirational star in setting an example for those of us that are able to try and follow.
I think a step too far is a bit out, how about 19650 steps if you run it!
(sorry that was my attempt at a joke😱 - it might just make bad joke of the day).
Good luck you have given yourself plenty of time to prepare and have great causes you are doing it for.
I for one bet you will smash it!
Bravo! I am still struggling to return to serious exercise and training (was a very enthusiastic cyclist) 2 years after my last heart attack.
Only thing I would say is check with your cardiologist or rehab contact to see what your max HR should be, and maybe train with a monitor. I've been advised to not spend much time above 120-130 bpm.
Wow, that's an impressive goal! Train safely 😀
What an amazing goal, Moreton. Really looking forward to hearing how you get along with the training and hearing all about your progress. Carol
