This is a very interesting video by Dr. Sanjay Gupta regarding cardiac collateralization, and I think it is well worth watching.

Dr Gupta's YouTube Channel has a lot of very useful information.

I'm sure he's grand, but I don't trust YouTube as a reliable source of scientific information.

If there are scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, I'd happily check them out.

Don't use YouTube for anything except meditation and music videos... even then rarely.

If it's accurate it's probably available in a readable format, that's just my preference though, we all have different learning styles.

I found written examples, it's regarding the transformation of latent blood vessels into functioning blood vessels in response to heart stressors. Apparently it's been known for centuries and well documented in humans and animals.

Thanks IamAli_R, that was/is VERY interesting and good to know. Personally, I never had a heart attack, but suddenly developed angina. (Well it had developed over a number of years without my being aware)(like so many people say I was a 'fit athlete' until my heart attack - ermm no you weren't, you just didn't know). Anyway, I believe, having watched this video, that that is exactly what occurred for me 😃, my arteries had recatherised and grown to avoid the almost totally blocked left LAD Which now has a bypass, not a diversion 🚗 🚧🛣. Thank you 😊

Oh, and for all those who don't believe what Dr Sanjay Gupter is saying, google him. He's a cardiac surgeon in the NHS York. If you were referred to him by your Dr, would you say you can't operate on me because you are on YouTube 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️⁉️

Dr Sanjay Gupta, I agree is a very good communicator.

However not all of his information is accurate.

His information about microvascular and vasospastic angina needs updating.

His video about MINOCAs missed out important details too.

He still believes these conditions are harmless!

I quite like Gupta. This 10 minute 20 second video didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but it was good to have a reminder and has encouraged me to get out and do my 600m grandad jog around the block. The one thing that disappointed me was that he didn't differentiate the results between the HIIT group and the moderate exercise group, but I think I already know that the HIIT group tends to do better in almost all metrics. Not that I am berating moderate exercise. Anything you can do is better than nothing.
