Would be interested to hear if anyone is living with a biventricular pacemaker as this may be an option for my heart failure.

Dear Nanatotwo,

I am certainly living now that I have had a Pacemaker fitted, well a CRT-D { Cardiac Resynchronisation therapy with defibrillator, 3 lead } which I believe is the new term for a Biventricular 3 lead pacemaker.

Other than the initial fitting and the time it took to heal, it now happily lives with me and not me with it.

Ask away there are a lot of us that have had this amazing bit of kit fitted, and a lot of us grateful for the work it does.

Pacemaker uk is an interesting site, but they tend to deal with clients that have already had them fitted.

Take care

is Biventricular the same as Bigemini? I might have to have one fitted in the future and was told I have bigemini rytham.

Thanks J.

Dear honeybuds

I am so sorry but I cannot answer your question, but I would imagine that your cardiologist must be thinking that if you have no improvement with medication then this is the next step.

Biventriclar is when two chambers of the heart are out of sync { very simplified }

The BHF site has a lot more information that may help you or your own Cardiologist dept that recommend the procedure.

Maybe someone will be along soon that has more knowledge on your illness.

Take care

Did you have breathlessness before? I have very little energy doing everyday activities and different meds haven’t helped. Feeling rather depressed about my situation.

So sorry to hear about your depressive thoughts over it all, but that is normal this is a big thing to have happened to you, I would certainly seek help with the depression.

Have you heard of " steps to wellbeing ? " its a self referral programme that certainly helped me.

The pacemaker would not be offered to you if they thought that it wouldn't improve your situation, at the end of the day it is your body and you and only you can make up your mind to have the procedure done or not.

If its the procedure of the fitting of the pacemaker you are worried about, then ok its not the most pleasant of things but it is also fascinating and you will be guided through every step.

Take care

Yes I was fitted with a bi ventricular pacemaker when my heart failure became worse to help my heart work better. Eventually they discovered the Arrhythmias was causing my heart to fail so I had AvNode ablation and defibrillator was added on. By this time the battery was actually running out. They should talk you through it beforehand. I was more nervous about the AvNode ablation because once that’s gone, the hearts natural conductor, then that’s it. I read online a lot of negative stuff but it was and as been nothing like that.
