Icd implant
Good to hear it's not too long a wait, my husband had that sort of wait himself & that was 10 year's ago! I know a lot of people don't like the thought of an ICD, it can be intrusive, can cause driving issues etc but it really is like having your own medic sitting on your shoulder. It's constantly checking your heart rhythm & HR 24/7 & correcting it before it becomes a serious problem, it will alert your pacing team if you're retaining fluid, it will pace your heart if needed, it will only deliver a shock if it can't pace you out of an arrythimia, etc. Once you're used to it I'm pretty sure you'll find it reassuring. Plus the fitting of it is a pretty easy procedure, takes about an hr & you'll be able to watch the procedure on a monitor, if you want to!
Hope everything goes well for your procedure and you recover quickly as me. I found it less difficult than going to the dentist and I was awake for the whole pacemaker procedure hardly felt anything except a bit of pushing it in place and pressure. They do numb all of your shoulder area up. So you don't feel much at all. It took 90 minutes because of me having to look at the clock all the time. Let us know how you get on. Try not to worry and overthink about it. Brian
