Just chill there's nowt to I've had my icd 4 yrs so far so gd touchwood lol a bit sore at first but than you don't know it's there

After a quadruple heart surgery, an ICD implant should be a walk in the park. I was very nervous about having one just over a month ago but it really is nothing to worry about. I had a sedative which made me all relaxed, but still aware, and although I had the sensation of what the surgeon was doing, I had no pain. It took about an hour, then I was back on the ward for tea and sandwiches. I went home the same day after the device was checked. I had very little pain afterwards, and the wound is now healed nicely. I can move my arm freely and don't even notice the device now. Best of luck.

Hi I felt a lot less anxious after I got my icd, I had a lot more confidence going places myself knowing it was there if anything happened, and when it did fire I never even noticed it was only when the hospital phoned to say my monitor had picked it up I new anything about it, I seen it as my little insurance policy, my arm was a bit stiff after it was put in but after a few weeks I just forgot about it, I am sure it will all go well, they are all very experienced with the procedure, take care char

That is even better if you have met the surgeon before hand, I didn't no mine at all, but I was definitely glad to get it done, and pleased that everything went well and that it done its job, wishing you well with it, I am sure it will be fine, char

😅It is amazing what they can do, I was February 2019 I never new there was anything wrong with my heart when I collapsed in my doctors, I was 58, ended up I had arythmogenic cardiomyopathy and severe heart failure, I got a transplant last July, right in the middle of the pandemic, thankfully it well, recovery takes time but I am getting there, icd now gone with the old ticker, apparently I was born with a faulty gene and had lived with and just adapted to it all my life, till age caught up with me, I can't thank my donor and her family enough and of course the NHS, char

Hi I live on my own as well so I fully understand what you are going through, I was discharged three weeks after my transplant and that was a worry but I managed all right, same when I got my icd, I got my messages delivered and I was just very careful what I was doing, I did miss being able to drive, so glad I can now, I am sure a small tipple for your birthday 🎂 would be fine unless the docs have said not too, mine are fine about it, hungry sounds interesting a place I have never been, I am still hoping to go to Spain in the summer, I could do with some sunshine not a thing we get a lot of in Scotland, saying that it's beautiful today, just message anytime if there is anything else you want to know, char
