Sounds like it may be ectopic heartbeats, which are extra or missed beats . They are quite common and the cardiologist may prescribe some tablets for you. I've had them throughout the last 18 years. Usually not so bad coming from the top of the heart (the atria), but some can be more worrisome if from the bottom of the heart (ventricles).
It's always worrying when you first hear that there is a problem with your heart rate. I know I went into headless chicken mode and feel embarrassed about it now. The thing is no one explains anything to you, They don't tell you that they're not life threatening.
Let us know how you get on please.

I suffer with continous PVCs but the hospital said there's nothing wrong with me. They caught so manybon the ECG buy its as though they were blind and just not seeing anything. The first time I went to A&E they said they couldn't do anything without catching them on the ECG so I got sent home, I went back the week after when they got much worse and I blacked out for about 20 seconds. This is when they caught them all but still said there was nothing they could do. I was given bisoprolol but that did literally nothing. Even on 2.5mg, my hr was still all over the place and my blood pressure averaged at around 180 systolic even with bisoprolol. Probably due to the ectopics. It now worries me to learn that PVCs are dangerous.I'm seeing a cardiologist in May, but I know they will do nothing at all. At the very least I want a loop/link monitor. That will hopefully save all my trips to A&E. I'm just really worried now...
Hopefully the cardiologist gives you some answers. I've got a referral for a 24 hour ECG just waiting for a date for it now. What does it involve ??
Adding to my last comment I've also asked to see a cardiologist for an ultrasound scan to see what that shows
