My Worries returning…

been a couple months of my anxiety being lower about my heart. Like I managed to tell myself I’m ok, yet here I am again complaining about what could be wrong with my body.

Background: 21 man, overweight, hypothyroidism.

Had about 30 ECGs, 5 chest X-rays, bloods and 2 heart echos.

Like I’m in a state of worrying again with my after I still get this left arm pain and chest pain after doing something active yet after all the doctors and tests they say it’s nothing. I fear it’s an impending heart attack or I have conarary artery disease. Seems strange at 21 but like can all these symptoms be my health anxiety. It’s just been rough lately. Crying a lot that I’m just gonna drop dead. They won’t run anymore tests as I’ve had enough they said, like the second heart echo was 2 weeks ago all fine, but now I’ve been getting these symptoms the last week. What is my life.

Hi Dshadzz07

I’m sorry to hear that your doctors haven’t been able to come to a conclusion in terms of what is wrong.

Has your cardiologist or doctor ever considered INOCA (ischaemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries)? I believe an invasive angiogram is required for this to be determined using a specific chemical. Because you’re young, and from personal experience, they are probably less likely to consider this, but it wouldn’t harm to mention it and see what they say.

There is another user on here, Milkfairy who may be able to give you more information on INOCA, how it is investigated, and the symptoms associated with it.

I hope your worries are put to rest soon.

thanks for the comment man, yeah they don’t really wanna do anything invasive with me due to the facts of radiation and my age. They’re like since all the other tests are fine, I’m ok.

But yknow I sit on edge with chest pains most days if I’m going to have a heart attack or not. It’s dreadful. They’re thinking, costochondritis, fibromyalgia, a nerve issue in neck and psychological factors to be causing my trouble rather than the heart it’s self.

Hello Dshadzz07

I am sorry that you feeling anxious again.

I remember responding to your previous post.

I wrote this:

"Has your Endocrinologist been able to get a better balance of your thyroxine?

Your lack of thyroxine may also be playing a part in how you are feeling and your mental well being.

Do you know about the HU group for people living with Thyroid problems ?

healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk

Have you spoken to you GP about your health anxiety and what help you can be offered?"

I hope you get the support you need to manage your problems soon.

Not disregarding what you're feeling, as any type of chest pain is a cause for concern and we all empathise with you there!

But - have you had costchronditis checked and ruled out? It's inflammation of the muscles in the chest area and the symptoms are similar to some cardiac issues.

Aw im so sorry you in this position again something must be wrong but like others have said its possible it's not heart related. Have you had blood tests done??

I’ve had so many tests done like nothing is out of place except my thyroid levels. My other bloods all perfect like cholesterol and heart enzymes. It’s really hard with all the tests being negative

Aww it's awful when you have a gut feeling something is wrong and all the tests come back negative just makes you more anxious! 💔

exactly but that’s what anxiety does to you makes you believe something is wrong does all this. Like I can’t prove all the tests wrong.

Yeah true it does my sister suffers terribly with anxiety and she was having cardiac symptoms it even made her blood pressure go up so anxiety can definitely affect you physically and it's hard to know when it's heart related or not better to be safe then sorry. I really hope you can get some peace of mind worrys you sick when you don't know what's wrong with you I do it alot and can make things alot worse. Take care ❤️

Exactly with the better to be safe than sorry. But like when I’ve had all the tests they can’t say anything else, they’ve proven it ain’t cardiac.

Hi, I am not sure if this helps, I am nearly 18 months post heart bypass. I was feeling ill last year with palpitations and chest pain, I had various tests and all were clear. I was told that panic/anxiety attacks can mimic cardiac pain. I was told this by a doctor. I do hope you get the answers you are seeking soon. Take care, Judi

Hi

I’m sorry you are not feeling so good and worrying such a lot

You said all your blood tests are fine except your thyroid levels if your thyroid levels are not at the correct level this can make you feel very unwell in lots of different ways including increased anxiety

Unfortunately thyroid levels can take a good while to balance out

Have you tried any self help with anxiety or are you on any medication for anxiety?

Mindfulness app is really an excellent tool to assist with managing anxiety and perhaps you could speak to your Gp about CBT which is available on the NHS and helps with coping mechanisms and developing ways of managing your thoughts and feelings

Have you kept a diary of when you feel good and when you don’t? This is often a good way to see if there are any triggers you can recognise or avoid

These suggestions may help you to get your thoughts in order so you can rationalise between your feelings and the related investigation results you have had

I do think you should go back to your Gp as you are obviously having a tough time

Good luck I hope you feel better soon

I know it's easier to say than do, but perhaps dealing with your weight could help. The Mediterranean diet seems to be beneficial.

I hope you find something helpful soon.

Hi Dshadzz

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling at the moment; the mind is very powerful and I have succumbed to paralysing fear at times when contemplating the possible uncertainties of my future. It’s awful!!

Anxiety can cause chest pain, weakness, tingling sensations and in extreme circumstances temporary paralysis and I know from personal experience how frightening it can be in those moments. When my youngest daughter was 1 day old her lung collapsed and she nearly died. I woke up just before the phone at the nurses station rang and don’t ask me how but I knew that call was for me. Two nurses came in to say that they’d had a call downstairs and I needed to go down right away. By the time they had wheeled me down to the NICU I had lost all the feeling in both my legs (after on having got it back several hours earlier 😂🙈). Even after everything was explained to me and I knew my baby was stable, it still took 6 hours for the feeling to come back!

Try to look for the positives that your results are showing lots of encouraging information, allow yourself to focus on that.

I sympathise with how you’re feeling but the best thing you can do is use the information you have as a platform for creating new good habits and giving yourself the best chance possible to feel better.

Sending best wishes
