I had a heart attack in August had 2 stents fitted and am probably now the fittest I have ever been. I have been walking 10,000 steps a day since October and have lost over 2 stone in weight. I have been going to the gym 3 times a week for the last 2 months.
I am planning to take part in a 10 k run in 2 weeks which my wife is worried about me doing. She thinks I am overdoing it and could bring on another episode. Am I over doing it or am should I carry on with what I am doing?

Did you complete a Cardio Rehab course? If so you'll have been given personalised guidelines for both target and maximum heart rate during exercise.
The NHS guidelines are to exercise for at least 150 minutes per week. That means getting your heart rate between the target and the maximum and keeping it there. There's no reason why a 10k run, conducted responsibly, shouldn't fit within those guidelines.
Congratulations on your weight loss by the way. Keeping to a healthy BMI is never easy when surrounded by 21st century temptations, which is probably why two thirds of us are now overweight or obese. So kudos for that very significant achievement.
It sounds like you are fit enough to do this task but you have to ask yourself about how worried it will make your wife?
Maybe show her your progress and the steps you have taken to reach this level of fitness that enables you to do the 10k run.
If you can reassure her that you are indeed fit enough and have had the ok from your Dr/Cardiologist then it will help her with her worries.
Partners are a massive part of our lives, they where there when we were really bad and ill to support us, so I think its the lest we can do, is not give them any extra worries.
