Exercise exceeding Heart rate calculation

HiMy Rehab sessions have ended now. They calculated my heart rate with all the usual medication Ramipril Ticagrelor Bisoprolol Asprin Atorvastatin to be 120bpm. Now if I exceed that on exertion with exercise is that dangerous or ok. Opinions welcome. I did ask the question in the Rehab but they never seem to give a sensible response.

if you feel ok and the Dr’s don’t seem worried about you then go for it. I had a HA in August 2022- stent fitted etc and on all the drugs. Push myself almost every day and even back training in Thailand. One bit of advice is to do it gradually and a good warm up like you do in rehab, that will help a lot.

Good luck

Hi ThatwasunexpectedThanks for your reply. My readings are from a wrist watch and was showing over 150 to.170 when I was doing 2kg arm exercises going above the head. I know this watch has got reading flaws. Perhaps it was a bit loose. Maybe I need to invest in a chest strap!

Hi Thatwasunexpected,

Thank you for your detailed responses. They are so valuable..

I am using Apple watch and so you believe that Polar provides better quality data....

Appreciate your guidance on raising HR in step way... Please do share whether Apple watch provides quality HR data or is Polar better.. I am thinking of using a bike trainer..

Yes the mental side is the most difficult. It comes back to haunt you. Do you monitor your HR during exercise. If so how high does it go above the Rehab figure they give you?

The rehab folk used the Borg scale in mine. Go by how you feel.

they wanted me in zone 2/3 so around 120 but I’ve had it up at 150/155 without many problems during HITT on the Assult bike etc.
