hi all been away for a while as uncle has been doing very well. This week is 6 months since the surgery and he has surprisingly got through it.

I need some advice on pacemakers, how is based on left shoulder, he keeps getting on and off sharp shocks or pain from it. No chest pain no other symptoms. We are due at hospital in 2 weeks so will mention then but wondered if you had any ideas

I’ve had a pacemaker since 2020, it was and still can be painful at times , in the early months following the procedure I got medical advice when I had pain in the area of the pm, my gp told me that they cut through nerves to install pacemakers so it can take a while for nerves to settle sand self repair . Now and again I get sharp pains in the area of or near to my pm . I had my pacemaker repositioned as I was getting a sharp pain on the left side of the pm that went into my shoulder ,the cardiologist said it could have been catching on a muscle so he said I could have another procedure and move the pm to see if that helped which it did , however pm has now moved back to the original position . Hope your uncle can get some advice from the hospital . There’s a really helpful pacemaker support group on Facebook too .

Excellent detailed reply from Westie2012 who if you read her past posts has had a few problems with the pacemaker she had fitted.

The only thing that I can add is if your Uncles { nice to hear from you both again } pacemaker has delivered a shock to him, it will be recorded in his rhythm { pacemaker } dept, a quick call to them can confirm if this happened.

Glad to hear that he is getting on ok, hope you are a little more settled yourself as I know you worry so much for him.

Take care
