I'm 43 and last year was diagnosed with mild Left bundle branch block with no underlying conditions. This year after echocardiogram, I now have LBBB plus mild impaired LV function. Being just 43 with young kids, I'm so worried what my future holds, will I be around long enough for my kids is what's going through my head daily. Has anyone been diagnosed at a younger age and managed to keep the impairment at bay? Will LBBB always get worse, is there anything I can do to help slow it down apart from medication? Which type of exercise is best as I heard some can make the left bundle branch worse?! Does this mean I will always at some point need a pacemaker? I've not been brought up with healthy food, never really do exercise, used to drink often, this is a wake up call now!

LBBB and mild impaired LV function.
Hello,
I do not have LBBB but I have recently been told I have av block and I believe that although different, they are similar in the sense of both being under the category of a type of heart block and potentially needing a pacemaker.
Unfortunately I don’t have any wise words or advice but speaking as someone in their late 20’s with a toddler, I completely sympathise and feel all of the above!
Hopefully someone on the forum with a better understanding will be able to reassure you 🙂
I am a wee bit older than you, but was diagnosed with LBBB 3 years ago, and severe heart failure. With meds and cardio rehab, and a pacemaker 2 years ago, I have been discharged by my cardiologist, and am leading a fairly normal life. I accept that I will be on meds for the future, but I will put up with this.
I have a friend who has had mild LBBB for many years, and it seems to have no effect on her.
I would say, improving your diet - plenty of help on the main BHF website - would be a positive step, and follow any guidance you are given.
Thank you
