Hello :-)

There seems to be quite a few medications that can be hard to get hold of I have had the same problem but it is not online and different meds to the one you are struggling to get

If you are running out or think you are going to before they can get them you need to contact chemists close to you and ask if they have any stock in of this medication

If they do then phone your Doctors explain to them what has happened and they should do you another prescription but if no one in your area has any stock again you need to let your Doctor know

Good luck I hope you manage to sort it out :-) x

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker (CCB). I was on Amlodipine nut stopped because of severe oedema. Subsequently I was on Diltiazem which is a rate-limiting CCB. This did not cause oedema and was better for angina. However, it is unsuitable of you have heart failure. Other CCBs in the same family as Amlodipine include Felodipine and Lacidipine. The exact choice of CCB a d dose el depend on your heart conditions such as hypertension, angina, heart failure, etc. You med to speak to your GP urgently. They may decide on a ifferent drug such as a beta blocker or ACE Inhibitor. Good luck!

I need to order some too and do so via Lloyds direct. When Lloyds have an issue with stock they have an option so you can request the nhs code for your prescription and you can show the code to any pharmacy and they will fill it. They will email it to you but I have had by text previously. I’ve done this a few times now especially with the Royal Mail strike. In fact I’m sure they actually advised me to order early and to get prescription elsewhere due to strikes, Lloyds direct is a great service vast majority of time. Hope helps

Yes, having to return to the Tesco Pharmacy here in Devon because they were unable to supply Amlodipine with my repeat prescription with the other usual meds.

Thankfully, I had put in the prescription request whilst I had another 10 days of Amlodipine remaining.

Good luck with your medication.

Not sure if it's helpful, but just for information: there are shortages of some drugs in pharmacies here. Some, like antibiotics are probably due to high levels of respiratory illness, but people are also having problems getting things like insulin. Not sure of the reasons.

Yes, I've changed chemists because Lloyd's haven't been able to fulfil my prescriptions for 2 months. Even aspirin seems to be a problem. Doctors surgery phones round chemists in the area to see who has stock and sends through prescription. There is clearly a shortage; no idea why

Supply depends on their distributor. I've had problems with my opiate painkiller which I can't just stop or miss. Our local chemist only deals with one distributor so if he can't get it I ring round every chemist in town, especially the bigger ones who use other distributors. It's not something they keep in stock as it's in bottles which take too much s pace. I have bad reactions to the generic kind but a very helpful chemist did manage to find a brand I can just about tolerate. Try places like Boots or the chemists that belong to a big company to see if they keep s tock.

Thank you everyone for your comments. After a week, stock has arrived and I'll get my medicines with a day to spare. Phew! I really don't want to involve the GP practice if I don't have to - they've got enough to deal with
