Hangover Huddle - Hear & Now

Welcome to the Hangover Huddle. It is a bit of an experiment but a few people said they fancied a virtual gathering around New Year. Remember unlike Christmas treats the food and drink here do not affect your weight, cholesterol and blood sugar. Think I will start with a Full English with a pint of Guinness!

Hope I can stay for the duration, but we keep losing power. I'm getting the Christmas cake out while it's still light (not the cake, that's heavy).

I will have some a bit later. It does not really go with brown sauce!

Hi Michael, I had every intention of coming to your do but life has a habit of getting in the way, a family problem. Now this morning the water board are replacing the mains in our Square, it’s not a very big Square but they say it will take 6 weeks and they they cannot guarantee to tell us when the water will be cut off. Not what I need with a busy week, also my Steve-Johnson Syndrome is flaring, think I must have upset the Gods🙀

cappachina profile image

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to cappachina

I had it during a stay in hospital once in my late teens. Both to build me up and as an alternative to sleeping pills.

Would you like a full English with your Guinness?

cappachina in reply to MichaelJH

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to Milkfairy

Would you like a full English with a pint olf Guiness? They used to do them in the local cattle market when I were a lad! 😬

Milkfairy profile image
MilkfairyHeart Star in reply to MichaelJH

Lovely, does the full English breakfast include black pudding?

I'll give the Guinness a miss. Can I have a pint of Fuller's London Pride instead, please?

MichaelJH profile image

When I worked in the city (of London) in the mid 90s, I was 100 yards from Smithfield Market. There were transport strikes then, so I’d either cycle or drive up really early and have breakfast and a pint in one of the market pubs before going into the office. Very civilised 😊

so fab to see this event today. Ive had the lurgy & then a chest infection so no Xmas/New Year at all for us this year.

Checked online today for 1st time in a while and the excitement at one of Michaels get togethers was untangible!

Still on antibiotics so will just be Beechams and throst sweets for me but happy to share 3 untouched boxes of Heroes and Quality Street and could run to a Hot Choc special! Health & Happiness to you all for 2023! Jennie

MichaelJH profile image

Is there a cheese board available and a bottle of Malbec?

MichaelJH profile image
MichaelJHHeart Star in reply to Ultramarathon

There is a selection of cheeses from Stilton to a very nice Mature Cheddar. There is also a selection of grapes! 🍇

Alison_L profile image
Alison_L in reply to MichaelJH

So if Ultramarathon wants some exercise, he can tread the grapes and make his own wine lol

I can see it now - people queueing and fighting over Jacobs crackers. The government may appoint a Cracker Tsar or someone who is crackers! 🤣

Alison_L profile image

Hello me hearties! I’ve got plenty of turkey sandwiches as I only cooked our Christmas bird yesterday. Lots of pickles to put in them, and I’ve probably got a bottle of bubbly tucked away somewhere. A do have a can of ready made g&t in my bag, but that’s for mum 😋

Milkfairy profile image
MilkfairyHeart Star in reply to Alison_L

Nice...Do you think it's okay to have a cream tea with strawberry jam and champagne?

No arguments about which goes first jam or clotted cream please.

The last debate on the matter ended up in the wall being splattered with jam and clotted cream.

No one has fessed up....

Alison_L profile image
Alison_L in reply to Milkfairy

Ah, yes , sorry about that. It was fun though! Cream tea with all the extras sounds good, even if it is just after the full English 😀

HHH2017 profile image
HHH2017 in reply to Milkfairy

I remember that very well 😂

Milkfairy profile image
MilkfairyHeart Star in reply to HHH2017

Thank you for giving me something to laugh about as, yesterday, I waved goodbye to my elder son, daughter in law and granddaughter after their stay with us for three weeks. They flew back home to New Zealand and it seems very quiet now.
