So, 20th of December 2022, it happened. Astronomical jaw pain, which turned out to be a heart attack. I am 47, however, i have no support, whatsoever, to which being home alone is making me paranoid. I would like to find social groups in Edinburgh and connect with others. Is there such a thing as a social network for me and others with heart disease?

This is an on-line forum, but we are all friendly, and willing to offer you support after what is a frightening event.
In England, the NHS offers rehab classes, which give guidance and practical help, while enabling you to meet others in the same situation. Can you find out if Scottish NHS offers similar?
Feel free to post and ask for more advice and support. This group has helped me, and I hope, enabled me to offer support to others by sharing my experiences.
Wishing you all the best.
Hello & welcome
I am so sorry to hear about your heart attack it must have come as a shock and equally sorry you seem to have no support no one should feel that way and even though this is online and you can come and talk to us I hope it helps you to feel you have somewhere to come and not so alone
You should be offered Rehab even though it can be about 6 weeks before you are and you will meet people there who have gone through the same as you
After the Christmas phone the ward you were on and ask for the Rehab Nurses telephone number if they did not give it to you and you could ask them when Rehab might start and also do they know of any groups you can take part in if they seem to not be able to give you any feedback then I would ask your Doctors Surgery
You are always welcome on here and anything you want to ask just ask and we will do our best to answer x

Thank you, on the upside, it did not come as a shock as it runs in both sides of my family at young ages. However, the lack of information available is unsettling. ☹️
Hello
I know that feeling it runs in our family to more on the male side so I was a bit shocked as I am female
I am sorry you were not given much information , I think a few have been sent out and felt this way
Obviously no doubt you will have been given a cocktail of meds to take and slowly start getting active but gently and rest when you body feels like it , eat healthy and see if you can find more from your Doctor or those Rehab Nurses that should be on the other end of a phone to give support
Let us know how you get on x
I’m so sorry that this happened to you - especially at this time of year.
I live in Edinburgh, but only have atrial fibrillation - so no experience of what you have been through.
Hopefully your GP can refer you to the rehabilitation mentioned on these web pages -weare.nhslothian.scot/cardi...
Social groups are mentioned at CHSS Scotland - so you might find something near you?

This forum is also really good for meeting others who just know how you’re feeling!
Edited to add - I do notice that all the photos on the support group pages seem to show much older people. I imagine it’s likely that groups meet in the daytime. It would be so good if they showed more younger people as heart attacks do happen to younger folk too!
