high blood pressure and breathlessness

hi everyone. I usually workout 4 times a week and eat a fairly healthy diet. A few weeks ago I felt unwell with a headache and my dr found my BP was 214/110. I was admitted to hospital and checked for a stroke. After a head CT and MRI I was cleared of a stroke and sent home on 10mg ramiprill. BP was still hovering around 180-95 so they added 2mg of doxazostin. My main concern is that I am so out of breath. Even walking upstairs is exhausting. I tried to go back swimming but had to get out after 10 very slow legs as my heart rate had shot up. Spoke to my GP who’s ordered blood tests but they don’t seem to be concerned about my breathlessness so should I? Any advice would be gratefully received

It can take a few weeks for blood pressure meds to really take effect,

That's what I've found. 3 months ago I was found to have high BP ,after a long while of depression and fatigue. Was given Amlodipine and Olmesartan and felt better after a fortnight, BP down to 110, and fantastic levels of energy now.

"Have my mojo back" the kids are telling me!

hi thanks for taking the time to reply. I will give the tablets a few weeks to take effect. I was just so surprised to be out of breath all of a sudden when I was swimming a mile a day only a few weeks ago.
