Post Bypass

Not been on here for quite sometime. Everything seemed to be fine I had returned to the gym 3 x a week and after a few months noticed I was beoming breathless during exercise, but no pain. Stopped going to gym for a while because I was becoming exhausted. A few weeks ago had really bad central chest pain 999 and kept in overnight and I was told there was nothing wrong'. So after I came home went to see GP who then said she would contact cardiologist and disuss my symptoms. He was quick, he phoned me at 7pm last night and asked me what was happening, I went today had echo done and discovered part blocked artery, possibly meds work if not stent will be fitted. This artery was picked up as partial blockage last year pre triple bypass, but was deemed to small to fix it. Back to square one, fed up with it all. Diagnosis, angina and ECG showed the partial block when I had the 999. So much 'there's nothing wrong'. Good job I have an excellent GP now and cardiologists who cared enough to check me over. Many nhs staff can't read the ECG esults.

Don't you just hate hearing those words "Everything is fine" when you know your own body and you know dam well it isn't. I do hope that meds will treat it to save you any further surgery. Good luck

I think I would prefer the stent than the drugs. Most of meds have so many side affects. But cardiologists said I have to work out the best meds that have manageable side affects. So goodness knows what cocktail he will presribe. I am unable to take beta blockers as I have really lo blood pressure without drugs. 70/40.

Starting to struggle to come to terms with this news.

No wonder you're fed up. Like you say, though, great that your GP and cardiologist are on the ball and looking after you. Hopefully the medication sorts you out, the stent if it comes to that. Keep us all posted and good luck x

I had a similar experience after my bypass .everything slowly getting better getting fitter then just short of breath when walking .after seeing cardiologist had angiogram which showed start of blockage in the join of one of the bypasses .on a few different pills now which do work if you get past the side affects .but really knocked me back both physically and mentally. Hope you feel better soon

It's just so difficult. Why didn't they stent you instead?

They told me that it's not the best option to stent right on the graft as they don't work so it's pills untill another significant event happens as they put it

Hi there twobells.. thank goodness for you having a good GP and cardiologist.. I can fully understand the shock of this news that you're feeling especially as you were doing so well..and the next time we read an update from you it will be that you're free from pain again.. keep positive..yes I know.. it's easier said than done at times.. I'm thinking of you and sending hugs 🤗

Thank you so much, I feel a little cheated as I thought I was fixed. My problem is I'm visually impaired and have exceptionally low blood pressure without drugs. So I cannot risk it going any lower and all the angina drugs lower BP. Just been given GTN spray so hopefully that will help.

Mentally I'm done it took me some time to recover from bypass as I had post op coplications.

Just having others listening on here helps. I will keep you all updated on my progress.

Another chest pain 999 call. Diagnosis, unstable angina, had angigram can't stent as too risky as it's behind another atrery, been put on meds which hopefully will stabilise it, but cracking up after being nagged to go back on bisoporol even though they make me vomit. Asked for a diff med, but told to ring cardiologists and bring my appointment forward to discuss it. I was an inpatient when this was said. My CVD is complex apparently, I just think he was out of his depth and just didn't know much about my condition. Sent home still with chest pain, and no meds as they have to come from a heart hospital. Urghhh
