ICD's

Hi everyone, I've been waiting for a ICD fitted for over six months now and every time I call to ask for a date the hospital just says they will let me know but nothing happens so I was just wondering if anyone knew what the average waiting time is for this procedure

Dear Charlesthru

I think that it can vary in what part of the country you are in { post code lottery } but mine was about 6 months after the bypass.

It would depend on why they want to fit the ICD and what type it is. They may still be monitoring the drug side for you with the hope that it will improve your situation.

Certainly your pacemaker team { secretary } should be able to give you some indication, you will have more tests before the fitting anyway.

I hope that your time { if needed } comes soon for you

Take care.

Thanks for your reply Blue, I was diagnosed with a seriously reduced heart function after a heart attack just over a year ago and had further tests regarding the ICD at the end of June this year, at that time I was told I would definitely need the ICD but they couldn't give me a date to have it fitted, from what I'm hearing a six month plus wait isn't out of the ordinary.

Take care Blue and thanks again.
