hi I’m on edoxaban 60mg once a day for suspected AF which they are on the fence with. They can’t say my Apple Watch is 100 💯 correct but they can’t say it’s 💯 incorrect. So they are flummoxed. So as a precaution they’re keeping me on the blood thinners. I’ve been on it now for around six months. But I’ve noticed strange bruising for which I cannot account for? It’s always tricky as I’ve always bruised easily anyway. But these new bruises seem to be in strange places and not my usual knocks or bangs if that makes sense. I’ve attached three pics to see if anyone could tell me whether I should be alarmed or if they are just small insignificant bruises. Thank you 😊

Hello
If you are on blood thinners you will get bruisers coming up in places that you may not have banged it is quite normal x
thank you. That’s what I needed to hear and what I thought. I know I bruise eadily but just usually know how they got there. Thes have just appeared randomly over the last day or so. I appreciate your reply x
Hello
It is what happens it does make you worry at first but then you sort of just get used to it or I did and when they appeared I just ignored them
Glad you feel reassured now x
These bruises are very common with blood thinners. It is astonishing how often you just brush somewhere like the corner of a worktop or a table when sitting down for a meal or at the computer etc. Even light contacts like these may result in a bruise.
HI Nanaeli
I dont know how this happens ,but it is (or so I have been told) down to blood thinners
or anticoagulants.
I know this as I take apixaban and after a recent scare as I have heart failure and other problems where when I was in hospital I showed them 2 or 3 big bruises that i could not account for that I thought where really an issue and not lightly as I bruise like a peach normaly also but these where and still are that bad where there sometimes feels like a ball in the centre of them ?
Anyhow as it was Palpatations and pains in my chest that was my main concern I didnt persue this so I will see what other people think !Hope this helps Thanks
Hi Nanaeli - yes, bruising and bleeding longer from a cut etc are to be expected from blood thinning medication. I was on Ticagrelor for 12 months & the bruising was quite bad - even in places I thought hadn’t come into contact with anything! Now been on Edoxaban (re my AF) for just over a month and doesn’t seem as evident bruising as the Ticagrelor - but time will tell! Good luck
thank you everyone. Puts my mind at rest as I was unsure what was classed as ‘normal’ and when/if you ever be concerned. 😊
