missing taking Bisoporol

Hi

I have been prescribed Bisoporol 1.25 mg on going to pick my regular prescription today was told that they were unable to supply me with a fresh supply until Thursday or Friday of this I recently had a meeting with my cardiologist who wrote a positive report I was told not to miss taking them by my chiropodist this will the second day I have not taken because of supply issues can you advise what I need to do.

Can you try other pharmacies in the area? Or contact your GP and ask for advice.

I always order the repeats at least a week before I run out in case there is a problem. Which I realise is no help to you at the moment.

thanks very much for your quick reply I rang my chemist but apparently there was some confusion in the reply they gave any way I can pick up an emergency supply till my regular prescription arrives. Just for information the pharmacist said it is not a good idea to miss any prescribed medication 👌

I maybe wrong but I wonder if you could ask your surgery to make another prescription for them which you could take round different chemists who hopefully would have them , you could ask your own chemist if you could have the prescription back so you could try else where and I am not sure if you phone 111 if they have an option for medications but would be worth asking

I hope others can give you some better suggestions and I hope you get it sorted out

thank you so much as I said to Rufus scamp there was confusion in the message relayed I just wanted to cover the bases on what could be done. It was complicated by my having to spend time in bed with a chest infection. It has now been resolved but it is great to have this support mechanism at our finger tips and thank you to everyone for being part of this caring family.

go to another pharmacy , it’s no excuse to say they are not available , I have had no problem , never leave prescription reordering to last 10 days ., you certainly should not miss life saver Bisoprolol. Change your pharmacy .

Two points to note. 1.25mg per day of Bisoprolol is the lowest dose prescribed, so I would't get stressed about occasionally missing one or two doses. But don't try to "catch up" when you get supplies!

Secondly, if you need an emergency supply of prescribed medicine call 111 or use their excellent online service. They will find a local pharmacy with stock and send them an emergency prescription for you to collect, weekends included.

i fully support what Paul said about occasional missed doses

Bisoprolol is a pretty routine drug in the grand scheme of things (although it's important for you) - an occasional missed dose of such a medication, at a low dose like yours, is unlikely to have a dramatic effect - the stress caused by worrying about it is probably more damaging

By the way, a pharmacist would always advise that you should never miss a dose, it's a professional responsibility, and it's quicker than advising each person on the flexibility of their medication regime😉

Glad you have got it sorted, but in future maybe order them at least a week before they are needed. I always do and have no problems at the DP or the Chemist that way.

Ring round other pharmacies to see if they have any in stock. YOu would probably need your GP to do another prescription unless you still get paper ones. I just had to do that to get my statins this week. Sainsburys pharmacy had plenty.

In the future the pharmacy can give you a slip which you can take to another chemist to get the item.

I find it a real pain only being given 28 days supply for 28 days, no room to wiggle.

My items are ready on the 28th day at Boots, I get a text to say its ready.

I need my prescription 2 days early in November and I am ready to be told by Boots it is up to the surgery and by the surgery to tell me it is Boots responsibility to put the prescription in early.

Any changes causes stress!!
