How long for BP to settle?

Hi, just wondering others experience on this please. I started BP meds (Ramipril and Amlodipine both 10mg) 9 days ago so I know it’s still early days but when could I expect my BP to settle at a lower reading and be more consistent? I.e how long does it take to fully get into your system?

thank you

took about three weeks here, start taking regular BP readings now tho, as it goes a bit crazy up and down before it settles. As a word of caution Amlodipine does cause Edema, particularly in the lower leg, and can make it really difficult to find shoes that fit etc. if you find that happening I would go straight back to the doc and ask them to find something else. Inability to put shoes on will make you more sedentary which will just make everything even worse. I know, I’ve been there.

Amlodipine takes 2 weeks to get into the system.

My BP went down by 40 after a month. I'm on 5mg. Reading 140/ 70 now.

Not sure whether to get 10mg to get it down further, or do more exercising!

Quite the debate as to the ideal target for BP. 120 or 130 or 140???😝💚

I'm 75 yrs age.

Dear Rayray,

My GP. Suggested it takes up to five weeks to titrate in to your system.

So for the full effect look to six weeks. In the meantime relaxation, exercise, healthy diet will help to adjust the BP.

Good luck
