Have recently been diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation after a scary trip to hospital with heart rate over 200 bpm. I’m now taking Flecainide & Apixaban to manage the condition Whilst I wait to have an Ablation procedure.
I’m feeling really fatigued and head feels ‘foggy’. Is this normal with AF? Or is it side effects of the new medication/ combination of my existing medication (I already take tablets for anxiety, depression and high cholesterol).
Any experiences of similar to share would be really helpful. Thanks…..

hi Nick, I was diagnosed with AF as part of my heart condition LVSD and cardiomyopathy a couple of years ago. Was put on Apixaban, digoxin bisoprolol and bumetanide. First few weeks I did feel a bit thick headed and still do occasionally. My AF was sorted with a cardioversion which thankfully I’m still in sinus rhythm. Not sure how long you have been on these meds but it does take a bit of time for your body to get used to them. If it persists speak to your cardiologist or your GP. There are other meds out there.
It frightening at first you don’t know what’s happening’ I’ve had AF since 2011 , been through ablation but It didn’t work for me. I’m on medication for the rest of my life, you will find out what’s best for you but sometimes that takes time. Totally agree with the AF forum it does help a lot. Good luck but like myself you can lead a normal life.
