pacemaker before aortic valve replacement?

hi everyone, new to the site, presently in hospital, 66 yrs old

Diagnosed with AF in March 22, at first review murmur heard referred for echocardiogram, 5 month wait then diagnosed severe aortic stenosis, mostly asymptomatic so was awaiting cardiac assessment.

Over last few weeks unable to walk very far without feeling very unwell and having to stop, increasing episodes of this last week on less exertion, reviewed by GP on Friday, advised to wait for appointment in 3 weeks time.

Sunday evening had a severe episode although did not lose consciousness, felt very unwell, spoke to GP Monday sent to hospital, admitted, monitored, had minor episodes and two major episodes, loss of consciousness and 5 second pause with the worst one.

Have discovered very low HB and given blood transfusion, now to have a pacemaker before AVR.

Anyone with similar experience that can help me work out what is happening.

hi. Welcome to the forum although I’m sure it’s somewhere that you didn’t expect to find yourself.. I haven’t experienced what you are specifically going through but I’m sure that others will be along soon to share their experiences and knowledge. Being in hospital is difficult but at least you will be safe and hopefully they will get to the bottom of what is going on. I hope you feel better soon and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hi, I received a pacemaker for bradycardia, although your condition is clearly more complex. The day that I got my PM was when I started to live my life again.
