Perfusion MRI results

Hello all

I have just received some great news following a second MRI that my heart is now normal with no defects present following viral myocarditis and ongoing sensations of pain during up hill exercise.

The results letter does not specify whether it is appropriate for me to now stop taking heart meds, bisoprolol and aspirin.

Does anyone have any experience of whether it would be safe, or do I need to either contact cardiology or my GP to confirm.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Hello :-)

What brilliant news you must be feeling so happy and I am really pleased for you :-)

I would not stop any meds till you have spoken to your Cardiologist or Doctor they have not caused you any harm by taking them so till you can get the answer I would continue with them

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi,

I've been advised to come off medication by the cardiologist following a bout of myocarditis... but was advised to speak to my GP about it, I've managed to get a phone call tomorrow so will see what they say.

Probably best to talk to your GP if possible, they'll either know, or follow up with the cardiologist?

Yes, I agree with Captain_Birdseye. Don’t come off meds, without speaking to you GP first. They will contact your Cardiologist if they need more advice.

Hi Curlyanne,

Good to hear about your progress,

just wanted to ask after looking at your profile/posts,

You have had myocarditis since about 4 years ago?

Has it taken all this time to get better or have you had it more than once?

Hello. Thank you for your reply.

I have only had one occurrence that I know of, which made me pretty poorly. I was told it was likely I would make a full recovery at the time, but frustratingly was told I would not be tested again to confirm that, as follow up MRIs aren’t carried out for myocarditis .

I went back to A&E twice last year with similar chest pain to myocarditis, but troponin tests were negative. After ruling out a gastric cause which I was told was likley (went private to do that as was so frustrated), and persisting with my GP, I was given a treadmill test and then the stress MRI profusion just to rule out a cardiac cause. Thankfully the MRI showed no abnormalities in my arteries or the small veins and that the areas of my heart affected by myocarditis were now healed.
