40th Anniversary Today of Acute Myocardial Infarction

Hope I spelt it right !!!

I was just on our GPs web site and looked at my Records it was 40 years to the day I had an Acute Myocardial Infarction, so hang in there folks and try not to get to down on a Diagnosis.

In 1982 when I left the Hospital I wasn't given even an Aspirin there wasn't stents back then.

I went from 1982 to 2015 with nothing. 2015 an Angiogram showed I needed bypass surgery LAD and Circumflex bypassed my RCA is 100% blocked and nothing to be done with it.

In 2015 the Cardiologist just said I have referred you to the Heart Failure Clinic which was a bit of a shock to say the least.

From 1982 to 2004 I worked all around the World in remote locations and not giving a thought to what would be available should I have another MI. It was in 2015 my GP suggested an ECG mmm that's not right i will send it to Cardiology a few months later I had the Surgery.

in 2017 we moved house, and in 2018 my new GP sent me to see Cardiology at the RBH after another Angiogram Cardiologist said I can relieve your Arm Pain which I suspect is Angina even though it wasn't the crushing chest pain other people experience !! through stents.

Breathlessness is from your Heart Failure it may improve but we will see. Fast Forward to 2022 Breathless getting worse and Arm Pain back again shit* ,

Angiogram with PCI on stand by my bypassed LAD had severe disease so after discussion between Cardiologists they opened my Native LAD with an improved blood supply to the Heart Muscle !! All pain has gone Breathless still a problem but hey ho I am alive and enjoying life.

For HF I have a reasonable EF of 39% on max meds of Entresto and all the other stuff, Heart Nurse said you are at the end of the line for Meds and to Old should you require a transplant lol, but a CRT device may be an option !! I have posted this just to show there is a lot of life left even after a very early shock You Only have One Life Enjoy it

Why do I think I have done quite well ?? I have been fortunate not to let it get me down always be positive if you can.

OK some days are not so great, but not so great is better than the Alternative Off to Sainsbury's to get 4 cans of Tribute to celebrate tonight whilst watching the Athletics if I was watching the Cricket it would be a bottle of Whisky it's that depressing LOL

Regards

Fantastic post and a brilliant positive attitude. A similar story to Kevin's but without the option of any operations and then throw cancer into the mix!! Like you Kevin refuses to worry about the future, enjoy today let tomorrow worry about itself!!Enjoy those cans of Tribute x

Thank you for posting such a warm and inspiring post,

had a tear which quickly dried up { very macho me } at your mention of the cricket.

Long may your bits continue to keep you as we like you.

Brilliant post! Many congratulations on the 40 years. So true about remaining positive.

I'll be 105 on my 40th anniversary.... I've a vague suspicion that the odds on me seeing that are rather low, but you never know. My surgeon was talking 25+. 😀

What a totally inspirational story 👏🏽 I too had an MI at age 51 4 years ago & left with a bucket load of meds & an EF of 22% it’s a little better now around 31% & have an ICD fitted I’m back to work part time I too have my bad days but still have good days & you just have to take it as it comes so I work have a few nights out with friends & have a few beer watching the football life’s to short to worry & what does that achieve 🤷‍♂️ Good luck my friend & what a great post 👍
