safe driving after having I C D

Twice in the last 10 months I have had AF one of 175 and the other of 197 both times a visit to A & E Now have a I C D plus a load of tablets. Have handed in my licence to DVLA. and have told to wait 6 months before re-applying for a new licence. I am worried that I may have another AF when driving with the ICD giving me a shock with little or no warning. Do you think i should re-apply or not? . I will 80 in a few weeks. Thanks

You could reapply for your licence and then decide whether to drive or not.In the meantime you could try a mobility scooter. If there aren’t too many cars parked on the pavements.

Looking at both your bio and post I would honestly suggest giving up driving as it can be very stressful these days (tailgaters, 4x4 that just pull out in front of you, BMWs and Audis with faulty dip switches and indicators, etc.). A near miss could trigger AF. If walking is difficult a mobility scooter could be ideal. All the best, MichaelJH

It can take another12 months to get your licence back after you apply as they are very very slow so you will have plenty of time to think about it.

This seems a very responsible attitude. I don't know how close you are to shops or buses but if you need to get to nearby but awkward to get to places you might consider an electric bike. There are even electric three wheel trikes for added stability. They would extend your range more than a mobility scooter.
