Hi completely understand what your going through, had a mechanical valve in 2005 at age 48. Since then up until 2019 everything brilliant. Then I was diagnosed with heart failure and had a CRT-D implant, since then all ok. Really speaking I think they should do away with the wording heart failure , the heart hasn’t failed but is struggling and needs some help.

Hello & Welcome :-)

When we have had such a big life changing event happen like this it leaves most of us fearing what does this mean now , will I have long and so on

It is quite normal

But you have to try and turn those thoughts into positive ones that how lucky we are that they got to us on time and could do something to make sure nothing does happen to us as not everyone is that lucky but you were :-)

I agree with Hanibil and my Doctor and Rehab Nurses only said to me the other day they wished they would get rid of the term heart failure as it is true the heart just needs some help and you have had that help now :-)

Not sure what your Rehab nurses are like at your Hospital but would be an idea maybe to give them a call for support as well as the BHF Nurses who are also very good

I will put you their number how to contact them and of course keep coming and talking with others on here as there is always someone that can relate and it helps not to feel so alone :-) x

Dear Allanconroy

A warm welcome to you and your first post on here and what a sad and thought provoking post it is as well.

Your story is constantly repeated on here and regardless of the procedure that you have gone through the feelings are the same :- “but have been scared and felt like I had been forgot about”

It seems an odd time to be ill at the moment, the good side is the fantastic advancement in all procedures from there diagnosis to operations from drugs to incredible equipment used.

The bad side is that it all seems to becoming very “conveyor belt” and we seem to be just a statistic that has to be moved along then dumped back into a society that doesn’t understand what has happened to us.

You are not alone and never will be with these thoughts of yours, but get them out somehow, don’t let them grow, you have done nothing wrong and nor have they,

they have just been told that we don’t need our hands held anymore, well some of us { me included } now and then do.

Take care and keep posting your feelings and we will keep helping the best we can.

Wow thanks for the replys I do talk to my wife and she tells me I'm getting better but I can't shake the thoughts and I even had a sore head past couple of days I know I probably never drank enough water but I was almost panicking as that's what happened after my surgery. I'm also struggling to sleep which makes me feel worse during the day it feels like I'm never going to get rid of this stuff it's good to hear other people have same feelings (we'll it's not good) but u know what I mean I look at my son who's 7 and think will I see him grow up, get married it's hard sometimes thanks
