Hello , I had many test etc over the last year on my heart and although I’ve got occasional extra beats, palpitations etc I’ve been told my heart is ok but has a slight leaky valve which shouldn’t cause too many problems at the moment.
I also have asthma and the latest thing is fibromyalgia, all that apart I’ve lost two stone over the last year and try to walk 10,000 steps a day in stages, but I’m increasingly well out of breath with a raised heartbeat and puffing like a steam train
Joining the gym is not really an option and I’m feeling like the weakest link at the mo , has anyone any suggestions as to how to get my stamina back , I don’t expect to run a marathon but I’m turning down days out because I know I can’t keep up for a day 😊

Hi hazel, I hope someone can give you some good tips. Iv tried a few things this last few years plus but not had much success.!! But I must admit I haven’t put my full effort into it and probably expected results after just weeks so that’s probably why to be honest.!!!!!But Iv tried early early nights, taking life easier,
Less stress, drinking less if I drink. My diet has always been healthy from being a child and still is, that’s how I was brought up as my mother was a nurse and also studied nutrition etc.!!
But this last few years Iv noticed my stamina and strength is not what it was.! Iv had tests etc and it’s come back normal. I do suffer with anxiety etc so Iv put it down to that and possibly 10mg daily bisoprolol.
Hello , thanks for your reply 😊 I know it’s crazy the fitter i get the worse I’m feeling 🤷🏻♀️ Honestly when I was overworked, stressed, overweight and out nightclubing once in a while I felt great 🤪😂😂 but now although I walk as much as I can I’m puffing like a steam train !
I sometimes wonder whether it’s our body saying give me a break and slow down.? Like the young mind is trying to control a older body.? Or is that me making a excuse.??😂😂
Good morning Hazel 1010. You don't say if your on medication for your Asthma as getting out of puff could be lung related. Have you had a check up at your doctors lately. Perhaps a lung function test would give answers as well. I would have thought your friends would have walked slower to accommodate do. Hope you get some answers and enjoy your day. Brian
Hello , 😂 I’ve spent half the last year talking to doctors bless them they must be so sick of me 😂😂😂 but I think you have hit the nail on the head as my asthma medication almost killed me off as for some reason after taking it for years my heart went crazy when I took seretide 250 and was in hospital resus unit and a weeks holiday in cardiology, just need to accept my disco days are over and smell the flowers 💕 thanks for your help x
Oh dear Hazel 1010. I do hope they can get you back feeling better soon. I know its hard work getting them to listen sometimes I think you have to be a bit insistent on what you want. Good luck Brian
When you walk it doesn't have to be fast. Just a little ride in your heart rate and be able to talk freely while doing so. And it's absolutely fine to stop and take in your surroundings. Cafes and benches snacks and drink stops are all fine. It's exercise not a route march. Enjoy it. Start taking pictures as you walk it helps the miles pass and also keep your breathing under control.
Morning, I’m not a particularly fast walker but I know what you mean , it’s hard to slow down when your used to doing everything fast , if I try to relax I can still hear my mum that died years ago telling me I’m lazy 🤷🏻♀️😳😂
