Hi all , I’ve been having a raised heartbeat of up to 160 , no pain , but it’s a horrible experience
I am waiting for the monitor you wear for a week and clinic appointment, but feel out of it no one seems to care at appointment and a&e visits , I don’t know what’s causing it, I’m not overweight, don’t drink , cut out coffee in fact I’m going to die of boredom at this rate and the only advice I’ve been given is if you have pain call 999
Last night it started at 1-30 waking me up and it was 11 before it dropped to 90 resting

Hello sorry to hear you have AF. I can only respond to this from my husband’s experience so please seek help from your hospital specialists. Brian was diagnosed following a routine annual medical for diabetes. He was given tablets to reduce the heart rate & monitored every 3 days in ambulatory care in our a& e dept. When this didn’t work he was admitted to a cardiac ward to wear a monitor for a week. This provided info on his heart rhythm & was advised to have a cardio aversion. He was discharged just before Christmas so follow up monitoring was delayed due to the holidays - had he had follow up they would’ve realised the cardio version didn’t work. Your monitor will provide more information on your particular heart rhythm & they can plan treatment accordingly.
It sounds like you are monitoring your heart rate yourself & it’s good advice to get an ambulance if you are concerned. I hope they get it under control soon.
I'm sorry to read about your experience at A and E and appointments. My brother had a similar experience in that he felt that he wasn't being listened to and was getting nowhere. Even when he had been diagnosed with AF, it took many visits to his GP to get the right medication for him.
Hi, I am waiting for a heart monitor as mine is mid 40’s . I have been told there’s a 4 month waiting list at my hospital in Worcestershire. I too feel neglected
hi hazel, does the increase in heart rate also happen when you stand up or do stairs? if so it’s worth a look into postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome
it’s what i’m being investigated for and i have a heart rate similar to yours
