Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping as well as you can and are having a lovely day. I wondered if I may ask some advice.
I have moderate coronary artery disease, high bp and high cholesterol and am on medication to keep all these things in check.
I saw my doctor originally cos I was getting sharp stabbing pains in my chest and that’s when they sent me for tests and discovered the problems I have. So far so good. Changed my diet, eating more fruit and veg and do a brisk walk every day ranging from 30 minutes to a couple of hours depending how I feel. Was rarely having to use the GTN.
Now over the past week things have changed. I have near constant chest pain, it isn’t eased much by the GTN . It’s not massively painful, probably a 5/10 with the odd stabbing pain jumping in throughout the day which rates a 8/10 and I am so terribly fatigued. Not been unwell so no reason for the exhaustion.
I’m not sure, is this normal with CAD? Does it have periods where it feels ‘different?’
Not sure if I should be bothering the doctor at this point.
Any advice or personal experiences welcomed.
Sorry for the long post.
Many thanks

I had an aching chest for over 3 days. It then got slightly worse overnight. Phoned 999 who arrived within 10 minutes. They did an ECG immediately and diagnosed a heart attack, I was blue lighted straight to the operating theatre.
please get it checked out ASAP… specially if gtn isn’t helping..i also have high bp and high cholesterol.. medication for both.. i have mild CAD.. because it’s mild i asked the Cardiologist if i should ignore chest pain.. he got a bit angry and said NO!.. said if gtn doesn’t take away the pain call 999.. so please don’t ignore it when your body is trying to tell you something isn’t right
Hello Bluebell67I have been having left chest/shoulder pains for about 18mths.
GP thought it was muscular ,I was with MSK for over a year to no avail.
Referred back to cardiologist by GP I've had nuclear stress test resulting in possible blockage in stent area.
Then had angiogram a week ago ,I'm waiting for phone call for results at end of month, but the cardiologist who did angi said my stent is not blocked and arteries are ok .
It's a mystery !The cardiologist did say one of my arteries instead of being outside of heart appears to be a bit in the heart ,but I'd been born that way it's no problem and he doesn't think that's causing the pain .
So I'll just have to wait for my cardy to report back .
If I had your symptoms after my bypass of two years I would not hesitate and be on the phone now. Don’t hesitate and try and see if it goes or diagnose yourself . Good luck and all the best
Hi Bluebell, I think you have waited long enough. Fatigue is one of the most important sign of Coronary artery disease and at this point you should get an appointment to see G.P. for review. It is quite possible you will be referred to cardiologist for further test including urgent echocardiogram. I would be interested to know what happens next.
