Eggs and the heart

Does anyone know if it is ok to eat eggs on a healthy heart diet. I have done some research and the advice is all different. It would be helpful if there was a clearer picture for me to make a decision, thanks in advance

Same meal for me after my STEMI heart attack 😊

I eat eggs, maybe 15-20 a week, half of which are duck eggs. Eggs are packed with a broad range of vitamins and minerals (except for vitamin C) and are highly nutritious.

I know what you mean though about conflicting advice. If you believe consuming cholesterol and saturated fat is unhealthy then they are problematic. I don't, which is why I consume so many, alongside nuts and oily fish (also high in saturated fat), and seafood (which is typically high in cholesterol).

It can be hard to know what is right or wrong, especially when the official advice contains contradictions, so I try to follow a rule of thumb. What did our ancestors eat? How often did they eat it? Is it seasonal? What did we likely evolve to eat? I've been adopting this approach for approximately 18 months now and all my health markers have improved except for LDL levels. See my bio for more information.

Hello :-)

I was told 3 eggs a week if this is true I am not sure but as said everything I feel in moderation :-) x

Whatever they recommend today, will be totally different tomorrow. It is about what works for you, everyone is different. I have been told by cardiac dietitian that eggs are fine. My husband and I can eat the same meal and have different blood sugars. Just an example. Take care. Moni

I have chickens so I regularly eat eggs. I do not have bad cholesterol, in fact it is low and full of good cholesterol, so in my case it has worked well, but I also eat healthily with lots of vegetables, salads and fruit and exercise regularly. I feel it is more about our whole self rather than one ingredient. Some people get bunged up with eggs, others are fine. Take it slowly and listen to your body …..

Dear Abbidaddidoo

I was told that “ in moderation “ was to be my new mantra…..but then I’m Vegan so don't have an egg problem, but after 40 years I still miss them !

We keep hens in our 1 acre garden and eat 1-2 a day, free range and organic is best as a lot of antibiotics are used in the industry. I am a believer (since my HA) in putting to work in to stay healthy.

I belive current thinking is that eggs are fine as dietary cholestrol is not thought to have a link to your blood cholesterol levels - Dr Michael Mosleys Web site has links to studies and there are Numerous other Drs on Youtube that discus the issue and provide links to current research . you can also check out Iow carb diet proponents for info and research links - just be careful which ones you look at I tend to go for info from UK, Aussie or Canadian Medics . Best of luck !!

What do you use instead of vegetable oil, that would be a help and I will carry on enjoying the organic eggs, thanks
