Post Heart Attack care.

I’ve just received a letter, yesterday, from Royal Shrewsbury Hospital telling me that the MRI my cardiologist requested will be postponed indefinitely because they are doing fewer appointments to protect patients and staff from infection. They used the same excuse to close cardiac rehab for two years. Do other areas have similar problems.

I've never had an appointment due to my heart condition cancelled or substituted by a phone call.Earlier this year I was struck with a terrible bout of sciatica, I have an MRI scan this week on my back.

We are on the Yorkshire Coast.

Shrewsbury Hospital doesn’t have the best reputation. The scandal over its maternity unit is well known.

Dear Mentdent

I am sorry to hear the news from your local hospital. My operation was cancelled six times, but at no stage did I feel that they used an excuse to cancel them, if anything I was informed at every stage.

I cannot answer as to why they have decided to cancel your MRI scan but I have never heard of someone’s scan being postponed indefinitely if it was deemed needed by their cardiologist.

If your hospital is in lock-down {black} then you would have been referred to another one for the test.

I would chase your Dr who in turn can find out at just what stage you stand at.

It must be a horrible worry to you and you need answers.

It’s my impression that Shrewsbury is using the infection that shall not be named to avoid work. They’re still restricting visiting well beyond guidelines.
